I opted for the Honda CRF 250 M version. Same holds true for all you've said on your L. Use it everyday to commute or any other excuse really. Such a hoot to ride. I'm starting to hear some chain noise and stretch which may mean it needs replacement but other than that no probs. You're so right when you say that more cc's doesn't necessarily mean more fun. It is absolutely a joy to ride this bike and give other blokes on bigger, sportier machines to keep up on our roads. It's so easy to ride and confidence inspiring.

Hello MissendenFlyer, thanks for another great video. I bought my Honda CRF250L last summer after watching your videos (which where a great help and influence over my decision and selection). I love this bike! I live in a small resort community - (Sun Valley Idaho USA). This bike gives me access to thousands of miles of dirt roads and trails that are literally out my back door! I know that it's tough for you to even find a "green lane" to ride there in England. Maybe someday you'll find yourself here in Idaho, if so look me up. I'll show you around. Thanks again.

Great review. Makes me miss my 250L. Had to give it up when I consolidated my ST and 250L into my current bike, a 2015 R1200GS. My reasoning for the 250L echoes your thinking exactly, although I only had to travel 5 mins before I could go off road for days. I visited my local Honda dealer recently where I caught myself longing for the '2 bike' days! In the market for new tires, helmet and riding gear so the 2nd bike will have to wait. The new rally version of the 250 does have my attention though.

Nice video again! I subscribed a short time ago. A remark about the fuel tank: It does have a small tank, but one can ride with 3l/100km without a problem. I never used more than 3,5l/100km on mine. 200km and more before refuelling is quite enough. For offroad riding it is necessary to change the gearing. I found out that one tooth less on the front sprocket makes the trick. It is geared too high from the factory.

Very helpful videos.! Thanks for producing them. I have too a GS (2017) and CRF250L (2018 Rally). Coincidence? Maybe you and I are onto something? :) The Rally is my "project bike," so I wanted to add a couple of notes... I am doing the same performance kit as you (FMR header and can, EJK ECU, K&N filter), installing today (hence finding you on KZbin). On my bike, however, I added the Seat Concepts seat, which I could not recommend more strongly (wider for the bum, narrow near the tank, plus stickier material). Replaced stock battery with Tusk lithium ion unit at 1/5th the weight. Added Zeta hand guards with integrated LED signals, to get rid of the bulbous stock signals, They work well and look great, but require a big loop of cabling between the Rally's fixed front bracketing and the handle bars, which seems risky. Everything but the hand guards removes weight. Last, I have a removable Vario x-creen, which is great for the cold weather or highway speeds. I have the smaller front sprocket, but based on your comments I may keep it in the drawer I have been looking for a good luggage option. I like your rack, as it looks sturdy and versatile, but may go with something that better enables lightweight panniers. I also may replace the rear signals with small LEDs. Thanks again and cheers!

@TheMissendenFlyer8 жыл бұрын
There is some slight tarnishing and dirt on there (easily removed) - I wouldn't call it rust, I haven't noticed the finish on the CRF being any less good as that on my other bikes. Go for it, you'll love it! ...but you MUST do the mods....

Curious, I bought my CRF250L last summer, and don't think I've ever hit 70mpg (not complaining at all, always get 50-63 depending on the riding which is a lot more than the people I ride with), you make it sound as though you manage that? How about with the EJK and FMF? I am in the process of adding the EJK (which I recently discovered is based in my local area) and FMF exhaust. Also, Have you found any need for a heat shield on the FMF Megabomb? I've heard/read a lot of people with issues burning their pants... Looks like its easy enough to fab some brackets to fit the stock heatshield on, but am just curious? Love the vids! Keep 'em coming!

Thanks Tom - and I get an indicated 70 out of mine easily but that's probably due the fact that (a) I have a 13 tooth front sprocket that makes the speedo read a little high (b) I have all the mods and they definitely open up the bike and (c) I'm not that heavy (not saying you are!!!). ...and yes the mega bomb does burn a hole in your trousers - all part of the fun! Great Review! I'm currently thinking about downsizing from a BMW f700gs, and the CBF250L is one of the models I'm iterested in. I'm slightly verically challenged though (being only 162 cm tall). You mentioned in your 1 year review that the bike is quite tall. How tall are you and how comfortable are you, riding the bike in different situations?
@fireblade89058 жыл бұрын
AmazingAmaterasuSama are you not going to miss the power?
@TheMissendenFlyer8 жыл бұрын
I'm 5'8" (so not tall by any means) but have no problems on the CRF - once on the bike the suspension compresses quite a lot so I am flat footed...no issue. If you did struggle it's relatively easy to lower the suspension with a different "dog bone" linkage....

Cheers for all your videos on the CRF, I’ve had mine a month now and love it. Can you tell me where you got the little fuel tank on the back please.

am really interested in this bike! im 5'8" is it gonna be too high for me? how does this thing cope with riding in rain, snow, sleet, etc. Are they really as bulletproof as most claim? thanks for your time.
@TheMissendenFlyer7 жыл бұрын
Well I'm 5'8" too and it's fine for me.....no worries in all weathers and yes, pretty darn bullet proof I'd say....

really enjoyed your breakdown on the running cost of the Honda but why did'nt you include depreciation
@TheMissendenFlyer8 жыл бұрын
Err no good reason - I forgot!! Will try harder next time ;0)
@johnnyreggae9698 жыл бұрын
***** I don't agree, depreciation is an exact science its part and parcel of the running cost of any vehicle and its quite easy to work out
@johnnyreggae9698 жыл бұрын
***** look mate im a big fan of TMF But the comments section are there for a reason you seem to have taken my comments personal TMF can either ignore my comments or take them on board i dont really care

How do you work it out? I want to know what the depreciation is on my cars and Striple.
@jmcphee78 жыл бұрын
I Aye lad have pressed your username by accident. I am intrigued to know just how much of an 'exact science' depreciation calculations are. They're not. Many factors dictate depreciation

Hi TMF, Another informative video.With regards to the upgrades didn't you put a K&N filter in this year or was that the first year you had it. Either way have you noticed a difference to the performance of the bike with the new filter?. Cheers look forward to the next video.
@TheMissendenFlyer8 жыл бұрын
Yes well remembered I did, and I suspect it was within 12 months and I forgot to mention it (oops!). To be honest I've noticed no difference in performance, I primarily did it as a long term cost saving measure. Cheers - TMF

How do find the braking on the road with the off road tyres? I have a 125 enduro fitted with road tyres. I work on a farm but commute on an a bendy A road.
@TheMissendenFlyer5 жыл бұрын
I've never had an issue - of course you can't grab a handful on wet tarmac but riding sensibly...no problem.

Hello, Mate. I'm a rather large guy, 6'-2" and about 240 lbs (109 kg). I was wondering if you think this bike would be to small for me. Thanks.
@TheMissendenFlyer8 жыл бұрын
Depends what you want to do with it Tom, if you're thinking of riding it then maybe ;0) ....seriously, the suspension does compress a lot even with my 80Kg's on board, so it might be a bit on the small/puny side for you....
@tomaustin35988 жыл бұрын
Definitely gonna ride it! ;-)

I have a DT125R at the moment and I'm thinking of buying a CRF250L, I'm just scared it will be a little under powered so I've been looking at the wr450f and drz400 but they are a lot more maintenance

Would you consider this modified exhaust system of yours disturbing on longer journeys?
