Nice video, thanks for posting it up. I've got 6500 miles on my CRF. Mostly use it for daily work commute, but also do some riding with friends on country roads. I have absolutely loved the bike for what it is. Can't beat the price point, it's been rock solid reliable, and it's just plain fun to ride. This bike offers a lot of bang for the buck.

Davetex D got the Same bike last year using it for the Same things. Have you done any adjustions which you van reccomend? I am thinking about doing some minor perfections but as I am a beginner I could need some ideas!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! I recently bought an 'as good as new' CRF. I consider it as a bike for trails, not for moto cross. So, I guess it will be just fine for my purposes.

I have a 2016 it's my first,bike work commuter I have about 1,200 miles on it. I drilled some holes in the airbox and removed the spark arrestor (I don't go off road) I was so impressed with the increased throttle response I later installed a 13 tooth sprocket which makes her a little more lively on the highway. The 85ish mph top end is killing me. I am seriously considering selling her for a more road minded fz07.

2017 CRF-250L 5,000 miles logged on. 13/42 sprocket upgrade w/D.I.D. chain G. Modified the stock exhaust bye taking spark arrestor out & taking about 3 1/2 inch off of it. Slid it it back in there and it sounds amazing and yes more air to my engine means just a bit more Hp.

Nice long term review mate. I totally agree with you on the issues with the bike. The biggest problem I have with mine is the suspension. When I ride around doing trails it is great, but when I do something a little more MX oriented the suspension bottoms out quickly. Which is definitely disappointing.

Street Gremlin it's not a motocross bike. Jesus dude...it's barely a trail bike.
@StreetGremlin
@StreetGremlin 7 жыл бұрын
No one said it was a motocross bike, nor do I expect the same performance out of it. I just pointed out the suspension bottoms out quickly. The WR250R is a very similar bike, but due to adjustable suspension doesn't have as much of a problem bottoming out. As far as trail bikes go, I think this does perfectly fine for trails.

After more than four years of following the evolution of this bike, I finally bought it. It is the new version 2017 Euro 4, with detachable ABS. Right now, once the KLX 250 and WR250R are discontinued, it has no competition. It's what I expected and wanted, a bike light enough, and versatile, with better performance than the basic 125, and very little more weight. For me, the ideal motorbike for excursions and departures on tertiary roads and natural and rural environments. Anyway, regarding its reliability or if it is worth or not for other tours, ask Steph Jeavons or PeterLeonie, who have been around the world with this bike. Of series, I see two shortcomings little autonomy and little load capacity, but almost everything is correctable because the amount of auxiliary industry accessories for this bike is overwhelming. In short, very happy with her. I hope to have a lot of time, many routes and many experiences ...

Have you replaced the OEM tyres? I found that to make a HUGE difference to my CRF - best mod by far (after changing the exhaust). Also the air-box mod is super-cheap and you may want to consider the EJK to really get the best out of the CRF. Great review - thanks for posting, I love my CRF :0)

Well I’ve decided I’ll buy one of these. At $5799 CAN before taxes etc it’s a bargain deal and I’m looking for a bike to trail ride mostly but connect me to the trails on the roads legally do to where I live. This will be enough for me. When I want power I will trailer out and ride my 850sp sportsman. That is my true off-roader/muddier. This bike looks perfect for someone like myself. I’ve ridden a rm125at most and a crf250.

Great vids motoman, i just bought last week a 2014 crfl with fmf powercore4 & powerbomb included mint shape for 4500$cad, almost wonder if i should have waited for the Rally as i have purchased Rally windshield,black barkbusters, Nelson saddle & tail bag, tail rack, gps mount, two way radios, power inverter, black seat cover. Really want to set up 13/40 sprocket, new spring and that fule injector system thingy, fist bike just got learners and im' 44 lol. But i am thinking of maybe getting that African twin and love the bms etc, saw a great deal on a Dakar Dr Big (matte olive)bike looked amazing. This going to be so much fun on Vancouver island :p

i dont think changing the gearing alters either power or torque, like on a pedal bike putting a big sprocket on the back means you go slower, i.e you can get up the same hill you had to dismount before with the same legs,
@StainsPOV
@StainsPOV 2 жыл бұрын
Actually bigger sprocket in the back gives you more torque less top end and smaller sprocket gives you more top end less torque.

I'm stuck between this and the suzuki dr200s. The Suzuki gets 88mpg but has only 5 gears. This honda has 6 gears, I love more gears, but only gets 73mpg. I'm really going to have to test drive them both and then it will still take a while to decide.

HI sir, is this bike a good commuter/ off-road bike at the price or should I look for a 2stroke barn find from the late 80s-2000 TWO-STROKE KINGS? I realise this question is a bit of a conundrum and maybe a little hard to differentiate but if you could answer me I would very much appreciate it, Thank you, sir:) PS I have a VTR 1000F FIRESTORM as my fun ride and I do not wish to take such a machine on the icy roads so I am looking for a second bike to get to work you understand but I would like to take a scrambler offroad from time to time.

@@matthewtrent2019 so would you recommend this machine to commute in the snow? I ask you this question because you have ridden it off road but tell me young man is a four stroke engine good or would a barn find 2 stroke be better? Thank you for your reply earlier but could you please put me out of my misery and make a suggestion for my situation,that is commuting in the SNOW😂 I do realise I should go by car but seriously in the 90,so we had 6ft of snow and ice got to work on a HONDA MAX 200R😆PS Google it for comparison.

@@karlwalker1771 yeah I honestly think you can get on this and ride it forever. Keep up on maintenance like anything and I'd say this will run forever. Its efi, which sounds complicated but in actuality is a system that rarely fails. A big plus to efi is this bike will start no matter them temperature with no hassle at all. Old 2 strokes are great, I have one myself. A ts185. That being said, if I were you I'd buy a crf250l and ride it through snow, hell or anything you can throw at it. Because at the end of the day, properly maintained it will probably last longer then you or me.

@@karlwalker1771 so to put it simply, I'd buy the crf and ride it through as much snow as you can handle. Because the bike sure as hell will.

See I'd have to disagree, full Yoshi exhaust really requires an aftermarket air filter (K&N, Hurricane etc.) to maximise output. If you do that, fitting an EJK or other fuel controller is essential to account for the extra airflow. :-)

So if I want to get the bike to use it as an actual duel sport should I still change the gearing, because the gearing helps torque and acceleration but it hurts some of the speed you would want for a street.

depends on which you ride more offroad or on, but id say go 13-42 as thats the best all round mate.

I've been offered a good deal on this 2018 model towards the end of the year but I want to put a luggage wrack on the rear and attach a plywood strong base to that and then attach a doggie carrier for my medium size springer spaniel with a little room for him to move about. I am not sure how the back steel supports to the mudguard will hold up, any advice guys?. I don't want my best friend Charlie to mope alone at home when he can come along for a good road trip. I will only use this bike in the summer. He wont be in his pizza box for long trips no more than an hours ride up the coast to see the waves. we will stop for a break every 20 minutes or so he can run around and stretch . Any advice guys has anyone out there tried this. Charlie is hyper so theres no chance of sitting him on the tank and behave himself he's wild . Im a pensioner and haven't ridden a bike for a few years. I've had two Kawasakis 4 stokes and 2 Yamahas (2 stroke scrambler dirtbikes simple and reliable and easy to get into ) In the 70's. If I purchase this bike which will arrive from a dealer half way up the UK in a box for £99 delivery charges, it will be my fist new bike since 1980.. the insurance charges in the UK are a rip off. when you purchase any vehicle in the UK you have to work out your costs for the long term . they are the highest I've ever known after purchase.

Hey Brian! What I have learned, is that Honda has designed the sub-frame for "two passengers", plus 50 kg for gear. Two Asians is not the same as two Westerners...but, if you are just hauling your Springer and not a two legged passenger...no issues. I personally do not like the sub-frame for off-road. A side loaded crash destroys it. No big deal, it is not expensive. I am doing a stronger carbon fiber version, for future fun and weight reduction.

Thai Gyro thanks Thai I have'nt purchased the bike yet but its good to know because hes about 20 kgs I guess in weight and the cage (I would get on ebay) weights about 10 kgs, I guess, plus the plywood base so I guess total weight plus gear for the trip will still weigh less than a person on the rear.. I think in the UK you have to pay extra annual liscence fee to pull a trailer, or have a side car, turning the bike into a 3 wheeler. so a pizza box cage with a roll bar fitted to the steel cage he can look out and be safe inside if we have a slow crash , hopefully not. cheers thanks.

Thai Gyro I typed out a whole long reply and lost it dam. ?!! thanks for the reply, yup that's the way I will go thanks for the info. Even with a plywood base, the cage I buy on ebay, fitting a safety steel roll bar to it, and the 20 kg dog, and the travel bag, the total weight will still be less than a human passenger weight . I'm short so will be heavily reliant on the bike stand to climb onto whats left of the seat but atleast the new machines have electric starts . I always kicked a bike up on the stand. will just have to get used to the weight swing the tail in a wind
