I just had a 1970 CT 70 restored, that the odometer and speedometer weren’t working. After watching your video I found that the tabs were flattened so I fixed that put the bike back together and everything is working. Thank you so much for this video. It helped me solve the problem!

This video is freakin' awesome. From the testing techniques to the various issues covered, I applied them all to my non-functioning speedo on my 1970 CA100 and got it working. So stoked. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing brother. My tack isn’t working. I checked it the way you did and the problem is in side the bike not the tack.

Can't explain how these bikes are so special. That first new bike for me was a candy red ko! I guess it is that simple! Just love em!!

Mine was a Candy Gold K0. They definitely grab ya by the heart.

Hi Mike, I recently got a K0 speedometer with broken glass. Would it be possible to post a video showing how to rebuild one? Thanks!

I can’t promise I’ll get to it right away, but I’ll add it to my list of suggested videos. Thanks.

What do you do when the cable end (small fork) is broken in the speedo gear on the brake plate? Thx
@MiniBikeMike Жыл бұрын
Hmmm, never seen that one. I guess if I could grab onto it with a pick or pliers, I’d probably set that brake plate to the side and get another one.

Would you happen to have a round speedo that would work on a 1978 CT70 for sale?
@MiniBikeMike3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don’t sell any parts. I’m actually always on the hunt for more parts myself. You might contact David Richard at Mike’s Mini Trails in Iowa.

I have a CT 90 that I have restored (Got it out of brothers field). The speedometer doesn't work going forward, but if have the wheel off of the ground and spin it in reverse it works. Any ideas?
@MiniBikeMike3 жыл бұрын
Any chance you installed wheel backwards? Did you take the forks out of the triple tree? Any chance you installed them on wrong side? It sounds to me the wheel is spinning in the wrong direction when moving forward.

My speedo is off by almost 10 mph! I can scoot around my neighborhood at 30mph but it reads about 40mph. I checked it against my phone's gps app. Any ideas as to how to correct this?

Is it possible to change the worm gear?
@MiniBikeMike8 ай бұрын
Sure. There is a screw that holds it in place.

what happens when you spin the wheel and the needle jumps (unrealistically) to 40-50 mph? New cable so it cant be that and the gear is engaging so the wheel spins the gear..Any ideas? Im buffled :(
@MiniBikeMike2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a problem with the spring mechanism inside the speedo.

What if the speedo bounces ( reading isn't steady ) ?
@MiniBikeMike3 жыл бұрын
I’d start by pulling the cable from the brake plate and hooking a drill to the cable. Run it slowly and see how the speedo reacts. The cable may need greased, it may be catching and causing the bouncing.

I have sprayed the inside with silicone spray (gently, not a lot) through the light holes where the internal magnet wheels are, and it seemed to help with the bouncing needed and squealing...It seemed to clear out the dust between the wheels and lube them a little without attracting more dirt... (this is on a CT90, but the same idea)
