After consulting with a very experienced CX person, I went back and put some blue loctite on the drive flange bolts.

The Odontologist - It seems that the bolts should have gone through the other way. Did the instructions say that the bolts needed to go through the way you installed them?
@TheOdontologist6 жыл бұрын
Kro- Man ....yup. go the other way according to instructions.

Hey bro! I have a 1983 model cx500 I was wondering where the best place is to order a coolant system seal kit is ? Do you know what the biggest/widest tyre I can run on the back is as well?

Hi The Odontologist. Again I find myself going through your videos to find info.. How did you loosen the bearing retainer? It shows you removing it with some 90degrees pliers but should it be that easy? Wasn't it tight? Thanks

I recently purchased the same spoke conversion kit for the Comstar wheels on my CX500 project. Alas I did not receive any detailed specs on what type and size rims and spokes I need to order from Buchanan's. Would you be able to share what exactly you needed to purchase to complete the lace up and assembly of your wheels with the CRX kit? Love your videos. Well explained and my go to ..when I'm confused about something. :-)

Thanks JP. I'm surprised no instructions, but I suggest email to Ian and Tracey at CRK. Likely an oversight. Once they send it to you you can send specs to wheel manufacturer, and you need to decide what size wheels. I used 2.75x18 up front for a 110 80 18 tyre, and a 3.5x18 rear for a 120 80 18 . If in the UK I think CRK also supply wheels and spokes. Best wishes for project.

@@TheOdontologist I have sent an email to CRK. For clarity sake, I did receive instructions, however there are no detailed specs included for spokes/nipples and rims etc. Thanks for the prompt response. Cheers

@@jplacroix461 Hello JP and The Odontologist. Did you find out detailed information about the spokes? I am interested about the spoke angle. I have CRK flanges and Excel wheel, but spokes are still missing.

You really cut that wheel? :(
@LoudBarkDesigns4 жыл бұрын
can't you just cut one side and punch them out to the bottom side and pull the hub up from the top side and leave the tire on if the tire is no good?

Thanks for the comment LBD....I don't know. Why not try it and see how you go?

A pity you had to trash the wheel - I need to replace the hub (worn brake drum, inner diameter exceeds the max 161mm) but reuse the wheel. Currently I have the bolts soaking in penetrating oil. I don’t want to completely disassemble the wheel, as the rim is riveted to the spokes (not a Comstar wheel) - surely it must be possible, as the manual - which inevitably doesn’t cover this - says to replace the drum if it’s oversize. Anyone any ideas? Great video series,by the way, thanks.
