I put a tank of E10 petrol in my 2003 650 Deuville in error . I always use E5 Petrol Super unleaded . You should see the damage burst hoses stuck float symptoms the works within a week of leaving E10 petrol in the tank
@motorcyclerescuer Жыл бұрын
Oh wow. You see everything gets a bit fragile over the years even from e5 but generally manages it. Once e10 goes in it eats away quickly at the already fragile parts. So in some way the work was coming anyway but the e10 highlighted it a touch quicker. If you sort it using newer and possibly e10 proof parts it will last a lot longer.

@@motorcyclerescuer back up and running now tank cleaned carbs cleaned and I can confirm every rubber fuel pipe was brick hard and split in few places despite complete renewal in 2019 by Honda . A lot of work on a motorcycle with just 17k on clock with a full honda history up to 2019 . I always use V Power E5 . Just once I filled with E10 and it was a disaster for me . I guess we will never be 100% sure if E10 caused this but it's back on road E5 Vpower from now on . I do my own service and repairs Mot passed today . All we need now is good weather to enjoy a few day trips .

That's good news that it all done now Frank. New decent fuel lines will be e10 friendly now so these will last a while I'm sure. Great job mate

I just bought the same spec yesterday 2002 model with 25k Anyway to access the fuse box as I want to add additional small fuse box too for accessories
@motorcyclerescuer2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I can't remember where the fuse box was if I'm being honest. That video was done a couple years back. Sorry I can't be more help.

Premium always. E10 needs Lucas fuel treatment which, due to it's price, makes E10 a false economy. Especially given running issues.

Hi, I got same bike , but something has happened to the choke - the bike stalls when I pull the choke. Do you any easy fix for that? I did try calibrating fuel-air ration , but that did not do any difference . Otherwise the bike I turn the throttle..
@motorcyclerescuer2 жыл бұрын
Hi, you shouldn't mess with the air/fuel screw unless you know exactly what you are doing. If you remember where it was I suggest putting it back to that. It sounds like your idle screw needs adjusting. The choke isn't needed at all. You could take it off and the bike would still be ok unless your in freezing conditions.

I’m about to buy the exact same bike, year, model etc, love the Deauville, sold a CB500 last year as needed something a little more capable for touring. Agree about the E10, my bikes run like a pig on it, it’s so unstable. Leave it a week and it needs fresh fuel to start and run properly. I’m sticking with premium. Better in the long run. Anyway glad I found this as love what your doing with it, and as I’m a bit of a spanner monkey, and I wanted to see some of this before I get one. Thanks for the upload, top stuff. Rich 😊

Thanks Rich, appreciate the kind feedback. The deauville is a great bike and yes definitely use premium fuel if you can mate. Your right that the e10 gums up very quickly.

If you dont mind me asking how profitable is this? Because I wouldn't mind doing a bit of this on the side
@motorcyclerescuer3 жыл бұрын
Please like and subscribe if not already done. I'll give you an idea roughly on this occasion. So the bike cost £530 plus a van to collect so £580 so far. Carb cleaning stuff, servicing stuff and brake pads say £80 ish Mot £40 if it passes first time So that's £700 so far But you have to ask yourself some questions, are you capable of doing the work yourself? Because if your not then you lose most profit using mechanics Also if the bike needs any engine parts or tyres then your looking at bigger spends. The truth is that you don't really make much profit saving these bikes but it is a great hobby and everyone benefits from it. So not a business but a lovely hobby. Hope this helps dude

As with anything, know your market, carry cash, and buy what's in demand, not what you prefer. Hope that helps!!

@@motorcyclerescuer I agree with you there’s not much money in it as I do this as a hobby as well. First problem is everyone who owns a bike that’s been neglected or left for a while believes their bike is worth the same as one that’s used daily, serviced regularly and MOT’d so getting bikes can be hard. Then you have all the parts that need changing or servicing on some bikes these can be hard to get or not as cheap as you would think. The bike I’m just finishing is a 1989 vmax 1200 it is now ready for mot but again I have to insure it to ride it there or get a van to take it there and back more cost. My next bike is hopefully coming in soon a varedero 1000 but it depends on the cost to buy it. Choose your bikes wisely
@motorcyclerescuer3 жыл бұрын
@@chrisktm2010 exactly, if we had shops we would ad 300 onto every bike if it was worth it or not. For me it's tyres mainly, if a project bike needs tyres then that 200 out the door already

The systems say that our vehicles will run on e10 but not how it will affect the vehicles after some time.

Its not good for anything really, it eats solder, plastic, rubber, metal if left long enough, fuel hoses etc. Its all round bad really. Best to stick to e5 or no ethanol which some premium fuels offer in my opinion.
