Felt sorry for you pulling that recoil Bob, a lot easier here with Jake and i both in the shop working on things. Especially when checking for spark and watching the low oil light when starting. Good job and your customer is smart not to spend the money on replacing that low oil switch, it only takes seconds to check the oil level and unless your totally blind you will notice any major oil leakage.

Mate .. it happens.. sometimes we have to start with what we know .. in the end you found out.. it's a lot of work to re new the switch.. just keep checking the oil.. good one mate

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. You helped me a lot. I had the same issue with the spark and the problem was in the circuit of the oil sensor. Usually not worth opening an engine just for the oil switch. Although if your customer changed his mind, it would be easier then most since the stator is under the flywheel instead of the PTO side.
