I just got done replacing many of the same plastics you did. Next up is tearing out everything inside and cleaning under the mat. Just FYI, I was able to patch the tears in my driver's seat (same spot) using the 3M vinyl repair kit. I fabric glued a piece of some old stretchy jeans to the bottom side of the upholstery for support and then just filled in the cracks layer by layer using a heat gun to cure it each time. It took me two kits and probably like a dozen layers to get it smooth but my cracks were much larger than the ones you have on there. Once I got to the top few layers I used some of the included release paper to texturize it. Thanks for posting this! Super satisfying.

Been a long time since I've seen someone put that much care into a Honda element. and practically no rust? my oh my. Keep taking care of it like that and it should last a very long long time

Just prior to the posting of this video I deep cleaned the interior of my '05 4WD 5-Speed Element. I actually have a steam cleaner just like yours but forgot about it. One of the previous owners spilled something in the back, didn't clean it up thoroughly and it left a real funky smell. I removed the seats and fascia, vinyl flooring and side panels and repainted the front floors. Washed all the plastic and the windows. I was surprised how easily the seats came clean using a hand sprayer and a shop vacuum just as you did. Much nicer place to be now!

Yeah; that is the downside of the floor... as they age it can gather some interesting treasures that ferment underneath it.... Ha.

If you go to this page: www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-list/2003-honda-element--5dr_ex_4wd-ka_4at/interior_bumper/tailgate_lining.html It is this part: www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine/honda~clip~door~lining~91560-s84-a01.html

Did not know about a guy in Madison that was in to Elements 🤔. Yeah; northeastern area for me.
@WisconsinEric3 жыл бұрын
I check Madison CL daily. The Middleton Element guy has not listed a single Element since before covid. He has sold some very nice Elements before that. He has each one inspected at Zimbrick Honda service. All issues are taken care of before sale. He also has someone in town that can reupholster the Element front seat damage, a common issue with Elements. I almost bought a red 4wd 5spd manual from him 2yrs ago but he sold it before I got to it.

This is so satisfying! My 2006 Element has a bit of hood paint fade. No clear coat peeling yet. How/where did you find the spray paint for the fender and hood? I spent a good amount of time spray painting steel in an old job so I think I could do it ok w out any streaks showing. Thanks!
@brycecarlson2 жыл бұрын
I got it from www.automotivetouchup.com. It was okay. Not great. From 5ft away you could kind of tell it was from a can. But it was better than the clear coat failing entirely and the paint coming off then having the panel rust in the salty winter.

Все хорошо. Я тоже люблю свой Element, тоже мою, делаю уборку, но зачем так? У нас, в России, говорят, что танки грязи не боятся! :) Honda Element, маленький, но танк! :)

Wonderful job...... you obviously take great pride in your Element..... It looks like yours is the red color, but in the sunlight, it looks more like my 06’s Tangerine Metallic..... or did they have another burnt orange color, another year? Anyway, nice detailing...... fun to watch. We should have a SW Wisconsin Element meet-up, this spring! Take care, and stay safe.

Good vid but you should have taken all the rubber floor out and cleaned the actual frame/body of the car. They get pretty goss under all that rubber matting.
@carlloftin28503 жыл бұрын
How hard is it to remove the rubber flooring? I am in the market for an element and notice a lot of the rubber flooring look bubbled - is it easy to realign the flooring
@YeoldeOrange3 жыл бұрын
@@carlloftin2850 Yes, it is very easy to remove all the flooring out, all you need is a thin pry bar to get all the clips that hold it down off. And as far as realignment goes I don’t really know, I would assume the floor being bubbled is a result of water being trapped under, the elements greatest feature is also it’s greatest weakness, when water gets into that rubber flooring it’s forced to go somewhere (down into the underside of the car) and there it collects, rusts, and soaks the road dampening pads under the rubber. Or at least that was the case with my element. I would recommend taking all the rubber flooring out, and extracting the carpets on the underside of the rubber. Best of luck to you sir.

2007 If you'd just come do the outside, minus the headlights, take a small crease out of the driver's door, and repaint the faded areas on the passenger side, that'd be great! I'm in north Texas. Thanks!

Trying to decide between a FWD or AWD, primarily for car camping. Not sure if the moonroof is worth it, probably makes the vehicle hotter but also might cool it down when sleeping. I’ve had FWD all my life and I’m from Erie Pennsylvania, one of the snowiest cities and I could make due in a Toyota Corolla. I wonder if you lose a bit of clearance in the AWD cause doing some BLM camping I’ve been on some rough roads. Looking at 07/08, found a FWD with 175k $5000 overall runs good. I tested another that was misfiring. Probably the common clogged solenoid filter
@brycecarlson3 жыл бұрын
I have had both. AWD with the sunroof is super awesome for camping. That said AWD = more complexity.
@kristigail3 жыл бұрын
I use a windshield shade (2 piece) in my moonroof. One piece fits perfectly, and makes a huge difference during scorching Texas summers. I had an old set I used 2 Hondas ago in my Accord. It is now disintegrating!
