What is the purpose of the clip on the oil filter housing?
@brycecarlson16 күн бұрын
@@bobl997 from my rough understanding of removing it and watching how it functions when taking off the canister filter on this as well as my previous 2011 Camry, I think its purpose is to stop the filter housing from being able to fully back itself out if it were ever to become loose. That way your oil wouldn't just evacuate itself completely right away and would leak instead of the housing came loose.
@bobl99716 күн бұрын
@@brycecarlson That's what I thought, so many of the other vids show it not being transferred to the aluminum housing. Things were so much easier on my '08 Limited with the oil filter on top of the engine!

Since installing the new one I've tried one tooth back and where it was before and no matter what the marks are always off from each other by a hair. But not a whole tooth. How does this happen?

Here's what worked for me if you're doing a haldex service including filter and can't get that filter spacer out with needle nose vice grips or anything. Press/screw in a coarse threaded wood screw then put a small crescent behind the head to pry/pop it out. Hope that makes sense
@phreddykramerАй бұрын
I'm in the middle of changing my haldex fluid. You do something with VCDS on your laptop to prime the pump then runs it with all 4 wheels off the ground to get fluid into the filter and pump. I can run it with the wheels up but I don't have the VCDS setup. Am I ok just running it with the wheels up and if so how long do I need to do that? I think he did it till it warmed up but I don't know how to know if it's warm. Is 5 min or so ok? Thanks!
@brycecarlsonАй бұрын
@@phreddykramer probably fine. The pump prime is just to get fluid moving before any friction or resistance is applied. But with the wheels off the ground it will still reduce air in the system.

Great video. As someone else said, referencing the part number is a particular bonus to all of us. two questions.... 1) when you bend back the locking tab on the old and new connectors, does it just bend back or click into place in a retracted position. One other YT video recommends a set of "depinning tools" on Amazon for this job, but many, like yourself, just use a small screwdriver; 2) You noted the new connector comes with the white piece already detached from the black part. If it doesn't do you need to separate the two? And, in your video, I didn't see you snap the black and white piece back together if they were detached when you got them as you indicate, unless the snapped together once you attached the entire connector to the coil pack?
@brycecarlsonАй бұрын
@@mountainbiker4450 going to be honest I did this a long time ago so my memory is a bit fuzzy. But I will answer your question the best that I can. To the best of my knowledge the locking tab on the back as well as the connector being seated in the front stays in the retracted position until a new connector is clicked into place. Yeah, a depending tool probably would be a little bit easier. I was just being very gentle with the small flat head screwdriver. However, with years past of knowledge now a depending tool would make it considerably easier. On your second question of the white surround on the front side of the connector. I am pretty sure that there is two locking tabs on the left and right on the outside of the rectangle so to say of the white locking component. I think you would be able to pry with a flat head or a small pic to open that up. Again take all this with a grain of salt it was years ago but that is to the best of my recollection.

Great video, thanks! I had trouble figuring out what you did to remove the ABS module plug since by necessity your hands were in the way most of the time :-). I found on another site to push in the bottom lock, raise the orange handle, then remove the plug. However, after raising the orange handle, I'm still unable to remove the plug. After over an hour fighting with it (and breaking off little pieces of brittle 19-year-old plastic), I gave up and did the fluid change without changing the filter. Some commenters say it's not necessary to change the filter anyway. I was willing to do it because other than typical hard-to-reach Honda, it seemed pretty straightforward. Maybe next time. If there's any way you can capture removing the ABS plug better, you'd be about the only one out there showing it! Thanks again!

The bleeders don't need to be anywhere near that loose to work. All you're doing is sucking air through the threads at that point which makes it more difficult to tell if you're pulling air from the line or air from the thread. Bleed order is not always done furthest point to closest point. Always check the user manual for bleed order because it also depends where the ABS module is located. Bleeder screws are cheap btw.... For all the time you took messing with them, a few bucks would have bought all four brand new 😂
