Currently have leak right now and in need of transmission mount. I’m glad I settled with the SC. What sold me the most with elements is bc of the seats and the tailgate. Pretty cool recap of the differences between the EX and SC. So two questions come to mind: 1. Have you had vibration issues with your SC? Context: my 2009 SC vibrates on low speeds and when I need to accelerate quickly. Trying for a whole year to diagnose it. No luck. 2. How did you manage the rarest accessory known to man: the SC spoiler? I have the exact same color and absolutely refuse to pay rent for a fiberglass spoiler. I one had a Root Beer Metallic 2007 SC so I have a soft spot for the 1sr version of the SC. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks! 😎😎 PS: bird pooping on you is a sign of good luck. 😎😎
@junkedelements10 күн бұрын
Thank you! To answer your first question, if you have aftermarket axles that could be your issue. It’s very common. The OEM axles have a dampener in the middle but the aftermarket ones don’t. So the aftermarket’s tend to vibrate. To answer your second question, I have a lot of free time to mess around with Elements and I happen to come across some rare stuff once in a while 😉
@Jcflippedboi10 күн бұрын
I REALLLY hope that the OEM CV axles I ordered fixes the issue. Can’t afford anymore. Lol. Thanks for the reply. Great work with your SC again!! Looks good! 🙌🏼🤗😎😎😎

I've had four Elements, including a 2007 and two 2008 SCs, and a 2003 LX (manual, 2WD). I never had any problems getting around in 2WD in Colorado during winter, you just need really good, new 4-season tires. The SC has a banger 600 watt stereo with a subwoofer, which wasn't featured on the other Elements,. Overall, the handling is a little better on the SC, which I attribute to the lower stance and heavier anti-sway bars. I'm slightly more partial to the SC, but appreciate the AWD capabilities of other Element models. Definitely agree that the SC is a better street model, while the AWD Elements have some off-road capabilities...better for camping, in other words. All Elements have great longevity and value, tho. Wish they'd make 'em again!

FWD isn't always bad unless you really get off-road a lot. So it makes sense the SC trim wouldn't have AWD since its marketed to folks who just want to get around on paved roads. I personally got a FWD LX a few months ago. Less money on gas, less money on maint for the drivetrain differential, and you can upgrade tires in pairs rather than sets of 4. So there is always a trade off, and AWD is great if you need it, but if you don't, its kind of a big waste of money. Even now living in Iowa I have only owned FWD cars and have made it by OK.

I would love to see the Honda Element return, especially if they finally decide to make the SC with a 4WD option w/o the moonroof (making the 4WDs have a moonroof standard on a Honda Element was a negative for me, but optional would be fine). A glass moonroof (especially w/o the covers) would make the inside hotter, a really bad thing in my area where 100+ degree temps are quite common in the summer. Also it is more prone to damage during severe hailstorms. There are rumors that Honda is developing a new Element-like SUV, I just hope it is legitimate. Not sure if they will keep the rear "reversed" doors, as many claim it can be a safety risk in a vehicle collision since the doors will possibly lodge themselves together making it nearly impossible to open. However, this was a design cue that made the Element unique to other compact crossovers/SUVs so I think it would be best to keep them.

The spring rate of the coil springs it thicker to promote better handling. When I sought the struts at my Honda dealership, they made mention of that difference. That difference is identified in the VIN. Honda used to sell a strut assembly (struts, spring, boot and mounts) Now, each part is sold separately. If you are interested in replacing the struts, don't use aftermarket brands like Monroe. Their quality is very poor. We use KYB struts and shocks in our shop and they are a Honda OE parts supplier to struts and shocks.

@@reCon_1977 In my online searches, I have discovered that KYB does not have these or manufacture these struts for the Element. I recommend you NOT purchase the aftermarket brands like Monroe because they do not have long term reliability. The SC model has unique struts because the spring rate is different from the other Element model (thicker for better handling). I am purchasing my struts through my local Honda dealership since I plan on replacing the entire unit (strut, spring, mount, spring seats, bumper and bearing) Honda used to sell the complete assembly but stopped due to demand. Now they sell the struts and associated parts separately. You'll need to find someone to assemble them for you. Shop online through a large variety of Honda online parts (Honda dealerships that sell directly to you). You'll end up paying for the shipping/handling to your location. That is your best bet for a high quality struts. I will be completing my front suspension FIRST and then replacing the rear struts a few months thereafter. Do not forget to replace the stabilizer bar bushings and links when you replace your struts. Trust me, it will be worth spending the extra money for a high quality strut. I work at an import shop and we continually see aftermarket struts lasting 1-2 years before they are replaced costing the customer twice as much had they installed a high quality struts like KYB, Tokico, or Bilstein.
@jamram9924Ай бұрын
@@reCon_1977The Honda part number for the struts is different for the LX/EX and the SC. So far, KYB does not make the equivalent strut for the SC for the reasons I mentioned before. You might want to shop online for the SC struts (front and rear). Check from online Honda dealerships to other online dealerships. You might find them online through Japan based parts providers like Amayama or JDM, but be warned, the struts may not be in production any longer. I finally received my drivers side strut and now waiting for the passenger side. I was able to located the mounts, jounce boots, upper and lower spring seats through Amayama.

Hubs/bearings are slightly different also. Axle nut won’t torque properly if you don’t use SC specific hub/bearing. Almost had to be admitted to the asylum over replacing them on my SC. NAPA treat both models as compatible to each other.
