Honda Element Water Leak on Passenger Floor (Front Footwell Water Leak)

Fix for common problem with Honda Elements. When the Honda Element is parked on a hill during a rain storm, water might find its way to the passengers side foot well. This is a quick fix.

I've got the same problem. Why not just replace the felt or get a new cowl? This seems like a big work-around.

Absolutely new Cowl cost $649 and after few years it will back the same problem. I have a top-of-line Lexus LX 570 2016 model same craziness the auto-make dont give a FlyingFk. If water damage happens could cause serious expenses because all your computer electronics are right underneath the glove compartment and the insurance company will NOT cover it. The 3M double-side tape cost me $15 save me about 8k work at dealers .. I had to remove the entire COWL, and remove the wiper, all under is stupid plastic clips heat and weather deteriorate those clips and where the part meets the windshield it is nothing just a SOFT BLACK FORM! The original cost of the vehicle in 2016 was $ 120k Very disappointed now Lexus they making a new model just for a look that LOOK LIKE FISH ARAPAIMA Gigus! I had an old LX 470 what a SOLD TRUCK EXCEPT for RUSTING NOW after 21 years outside. I really appreciate THE fellow it was a smart idea but metal will make some noise. I’ll go to fiberglass to make a small shelter and put some rubber seal around it!

I also taped the cover to the windshield to prevent water from coming in

I have the same problem. I was going to replace the cowl but it's $630 from the Honda dealer. Not willing to spend that much if there's another fix.

I skipped all the stuff this guy did, I used liquid gasket maker , 7 dollars, and I popped up the cowl put a bead down , no more water , took me 10 minutes

Mine just started leaking I think I need to do what you need. I kind'a rather just get a new cowl.

@@SavageMFG on the windshield actually .worked , never leaked again . maybe ypu could just relpace the cowl . not from a junkyard though .

What’s the drain plug in that foot well area called?

I did something similar but I made the opening walls into the blower taller with aluminum tape. I also taped the cal plastic cover to the windshield so no water can get in.

I also have same problem in my Element. When I parked it on the mountain hill under rain there was water leak on front sides. Please slowly explain the solution. Thanks

I'm just noticing this in my 2007 Element. Water in the front passenger side...Had a massive amount of rain lately and it's parked on a slope. I noticed both seats were damp and also the ceiling and visors felt damp as well, not sure why after watching this video. Looked in the spare tire well and it was full of water (which I had had that problem before) there is a channel along the roof that drains water. If it get clogged (which mine apparently does because the Element is parked under trees) water then fills into the spare tire well. I can't for the life of me understand why this is a good design. So frustrating, and now from the front passenger side too. I don't think the Element is living up to its name.

For the rear water channel I used compressed air to open the lines, if its from the front windshield felt area you should notice water in the glove box and under the floor cover in the front passenger compartment.

how do the cowl pieces come off ?

The guy at JN Phillips showed me...there a plastic pins holding it down. You just get your fingers underneath from the top and pull toward you gently, slowly working you fingers down to get a better grip as it starts to come free.
