Angie and Ronda you did a superb job of both hands-on demonstration and camera work for this video. When I first saw all the tools required I was skeptical... but after watching the entire video you make it look easy. I only wish you had shown how that "key chain" part you described connects to convert the unit to run on Natural Gas.

NOTE: the new instructions have you remove the washer behind the nylon bolt... Otherwise it bolt will not reach the threads... See the new instructions... 😎 👍

Yikes! That looks too complicated for me. I really wanted to convert to propane but dont ŵant to invalidate the honda warranty.

I've watched other KZbin videos of propane conversions. They all pushed the primer button longer and the generator started quicker.

The conversion kit is much to expensive to make it worthwhile , ......just not worth doing it

You forgot to zip tie the new propane hose to gas line to keep it out of the way.

They really should be supplying longer bolts on the carb stud side. Those few threads in those nuts just are not enough. Other conversion kits supply two new carb stud bolts, so I will be doing that as part of the conversion to ensure things don’t rattle loose. For the amount of money they charge for the kits, the extra $2 would make the install a lot safer for long term operation.

HI Jimmy, couldn't agree with you more. Totally ridiculous it's so short.
@benkanobe7500
@benkanobe7500 2 жыл бұрын
You can grab the studs when the air cleaner is off and back them out a turn and a half and the nuts fit perfectly. If you can't grab the studs, double nut using the original nuts and back the studs out that way.

I have that conversion kit. I was installing it in my carport when the winds became so strong that I thought we were having a tornado. I finished the install and put it away without ever testing it. Within a short time, a lightning strike took out the transformer behind the house. No power. WAIT!!... I have the converted generator!! I cranked it up and it ran my refrigerator, a mini fridge, a small chest freezer, a light and a fan for 11 straight hours until the transformer was replaced. ALL on the economy mode. Great conversion kit!!!!

I like this idea as we use it in the PNW for power outages etc. and storing propane should last much longer etc. w/o the hassles of gasoline. Are there ways to make sure above the obvious that the propane conversion kit is tight and sound? Also if I run one gallon of gas on economy-mode I can get 8 hours of runtime, what would the equivalent be in propane? And do you still get the same type of power output? Thanks for doing this video!
@AdventuresInNoMadness
@AdventuresInNoMadness 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, thanks so much for watching! You can spray the connections with soapy water to make sure they're tight. The run time is definitely less with propane. We've only run it once with the propane from the rv and that was a couple of days ago. We rarely need to run our generator very much with our solar. The power output is less according to what you read online. Our power needs are pretty low so it hasn't been an issue. We really LOVE not having to carry a spare gas tank!

Great! But...does it take 40-something pulls every time you start it???
@AdventuresInNoMadness
@AdventuresInNoMadness 3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha... No! We've started it multiple times with no problem. It was more our learning curve on using the primer if it doesn't start after 3 pulls. That and the need for a spark plug adjustment/replacement. I think we'd toss it if it really was that hard to start every time! Thanks for watching and for the comment!

One suggestion on the hard starting. I have had issues starting a garage heater in the cold as the propane seems to get too cold. I turned the tank upside down trying to warm it up and it seems to work enough to start my heater. May have been the issue with 47 pulls.
@AdventuresInNoMadness
@AdventuresInNoMadness 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and suggestion Joseph! I think the issue was user error and not re priming the regulator after 3 pulls like the directions say to do LOL!

What most kit manufacturers don't tell you is that it voids the warranty.

Hondas 3 year warranty is manufacture defects only. Doesn't cover carb problems, bad needle and seat, stale gas, clogged up carburetor, eat up fuel line, gasoline flooded spark plug, and other carberator, fuel pump and problematic gasoline problems. All these gasoline/carburetor problems are eliminated running vapor fuels like propane or natural gas!

Excellent how-to video. I don’t have propane in my minivan but this video will be very helpful to those that do. I used to have a Honda generator on my sailboat. Wish I had known about this conversion back then. When are you two heading south?
