Love all of your videos. Especially though, love your “how to videos” and “mod” videos. We have the same stovetop that you just installed. We love it . Heads up though, when we travel, we use blue painters tape to secure the glass top to the Formica countertop. When we took delivery in CA, the grill grate section had vibrated up and out some. Now we err on the side of caution and blue tape the glass down for travel. Our next project is the lift arms under the bed. Can’t wait. Thanks for the Amazon links, they really help.

Hi Melissa, thanks so much for watching! That's a great idea to use blue tape! We really love the new Dometic but it does rattle more down the road. We started putting a large piece of bubble wrap between the grate and the glass top. We'd hate to have anything break!

Congrats! We are E19 owners, and you did the replacement almost exactly like I did. To achieve the correct width on the corners, I just moved the painter's tape in about 1/8th of an inch on each side. I did not bother to remove the fuse because when I removed the SDS2 cooktop, I insulated each end of the wire with electrical tape. And I used slightly different connectors for the electrical connections. Because it was an Escape 19, I guess, the propane line was long enough.

Thanks for commenting Roger! Yes, the propane line was too short on the 21's but fine on the 19. It was a real pain to find an extension! Great job replacing yours!

Ooh, I need one of those stove trivets for my butane cooker as the kettle that came with my camp cook set is too small and wobbles in the middle. And I do need my tea. You are very handy; more than me. :) Jon in rural BC, Canada

A very great explanation to help other people. I was curious about your desire to use an electric cook top? You could always order a one burner hot plate if you desired for inside and/or outside cooking.
@AdventuresInNoMadness2 жыл бұрын
We do have a one burner induction cooktop we use when we have hookups. Otherwise we use our gas stove most of the time

Nice looking new stove; you made it look easy to install. For some reason I thought these had a oven/stove combination?

Looks great! Why did you go with the Dometic D21 instead of a replacement Suburban SDS2? Thanks! B.King
@jenkinsra2 жыл бұрын
I cannot speak for NoMadness, but we substituted the D21 because a) our local RV dealer would only service what they sell; b) we could not get the Suburban-recommended dealers in Montana - that Suburban required that we use - to return our phone calls; c) the closest one of those was 145 miles away; d) the Dometic D21 had a larger burner and presumably we can use our Omnia "oven" on top of the large Dometic burner without having it be "too large" for the burner; e) I could do the replacement myself, which was not a big deal, and thus did not have to spend nearly $100 in fuel costs just to haul the trailer to a Suburban "authorized" replacement center; and f) Escape could sell me the Dometic D21 at a great price and ship it to me easily.

Hi bk, we went with the Dometic because it was easier for me to install it myself than to find a dealer and schedule the install while on the road and traveling. I also like the look of the Dometic a lot more. Feels a little classier in our kitchen!
@AdventuresInNoMadness2 жыл бұрын
Roger, thanks for replying and for sharing your reason for choosing the Dometic! Your reasons are similar to ours. Ultimately we did not want to wait to schedule a Suburban replacement when we don't know where we're going to be at a given time. I haven't tried our Omnia on the Dometic but I agree, the surface area will definitely be better!
