Michael I just put the 5-2-1- on both of my 3.5 ton Central A/C\s. I'/m pulling 21.3 amps on start and 8.7 run. Thanks for the idea and the video.

Dqalex are you running both central air units at the same time with this eu7000is and if so what else are you running besides the a.c. units
@Dqalex6 жыл бұрын
I haven't tested it yet. I doubt a single EU7000 will run both. I'm waiting for the parallel kit. With the parallel kit and two EU7000s it should. I hope Honda has the kit out by the end of the summer.

Yes it differently will

Hi. What brand is your AC system? And how come it only uses 8.7 amps while running? I checked the specs on my Carrier 16 SEER 3.5 ton AC and it says 17.9 amps FLA (full load amps). How did you calculate the 8.7?

Have we come to a conclusion on whether hard starts at least work it this scenario, portable generator to central AC? I think it is possible to start a central ac with a hard start, it’s been done on Rv’s for this purpose. I agree the East start is the better although more expensive option. In the case of a power outage I would argue that getting the cheaper hard start to work a few times and then disconnecting it again when power returns would be sufficient. It will only be starting the AC a few times out of its life. My confusion is does the 5-2-1 kit solve this dilemma? It seems the 5-2-1 shortens startup but does not decrease the electrical starting load/amps/wattage. On the other hand the Supco hard start products seem to specifically offer torque boost through a capacitor. I’m not sure if these are the same thing with different relay types 2 wire vs 3 wire. But the supco seem to be designed to supplement starting power, while the 5-2-1 seems to shorten the time period. Anyone got a better idea? I’m going to be hooking up a Firman portable natural gas generator 6900/5500 running to the gas line and try to run one central ac unit. I’d buy the easy start if it was needed all the time but for a few days and to be able to have some spares the hard start looks nice.

Nice, I was going to buy a 15000 watt generator because my 2 ton Carrier needs 12,400 watts to start it every time. Now, I can buy a smaller generator.

Just bought my Honda 7000 W generator and installed hard start Rectorseal 96506 S1-02431995000 on my 3.5 ton 16 ER rated Carrier. Glad you showed this video before I tried mine. Thanks

can i use this for desktop computer (500W, 240V, 4A, or above) with no problem? if there's problem, what solution/s? using a AVR or something? ...

how many hours do you have on the generator now? any problems?

When people do this its exciting but do you wonder how much gas your gonna burn ,running it to keep your house cool Generators are rated at 50% load thats alot more than 50% to run Buy a window unit and burn less gas people! its only temporary.
@josephpuchel64974 жыл бұрын
Hello The whole house AC system wouldn’t even be on my generator as a essential appliance when there’s a power outage. Maybe small window unit maybe. That 7000 watt Honda generator must have cost few thousand dollars.

Are you able to run both units at the same time with the honda eu7000is.
@robertomezaperez28285 жыл бұрын
Hola. Muy bien por el generador, pero debe de sustituir esas unidades por modelos más eficientes como un SEER 28, eso le mejorará su consumo eléctrico además de enfriar mejor.
@Nintendocomics-clubs4 жыл бұрын
I thought a 4 ton 16 SEER AC would pull at least 5KW, but the display on your generator settles at about 2.9KW. Is that correct? Does the compressor and handler use less than 3KW when cooling?
@BenjaminGonzalez-mz3ng6 жыл бұрын
How is this possible? Is this a high efficiency ac like 22 seer? are you able to run both the outside unit and inside air handler at the same time?

Ben the 5-2-1 cap is like $60 and drops the initial startup surge with the aid of the 5-2-1 capacitor. I bought mine on Amazon, there are 3 sizes to choose from.

Where does it say 4Ton? Am trying to figure how much mine is. Thanks!!
@Kayden98133 жыл бұрын
Look at the model number and try to look for a pair of numbers that are in increments of 12. Each 1/2 ton can be represted by increments of 6. 12 = 1 ton, 18 = 1.5 tons, 24 = 2 tons, 30 = 2.5 tons... 48 = 4 tons, 54 = 4.5 tons, etc.. may not always be the case for all units (as shown in the video) but maybe you're lucky and have a unit that has the tons indicated within the model number. If your model number GSX160481; you may be confused due to seeing 60 (5 ton) and 48 (4 ton), but the 0 is really being used to seperate 16 (16 SEER) from the 48.

The gauge was only showing 550 most of the time. That generator should have run at full capacity for that a/c. Something is wrong here
@5thGenNativeTexan2 жыл бұрын
You have to go to 02:22 to see when the AC unit kicks on. There is a long stretch of him just showing 550, waiting for a couple minutes before the AC kicks on.

Is the EU7000is in the test neutral unbonded?
@Dqalex6 жыл бұрын
Yes All Honda EU, EM and EG generators have floating neutrals. Only the Honda EB comes from the factory with a bonded neutral
