Project Fireblade continues! In this episode we take a look at the new brakes and rear shock absorber fitted to cure some very niggling faults !
The work was undertaken for me by Steve Scott M/Cs of Mansfield, England. See previous video of similar upgrades for my 1996 VFR750FT.

Great info! I had a 96, loved it, and I remember the slight handling issues. This makes me wanna buy another one used and upgrade like this!

Just saw you other vid and commented on that. I bought a 1996 blade and will be getting new shock and breaks redone - nice to see it’s worth it

Definitely worth it, not cheap but it makes a major difference.

My 96 has got a hagon shock. Its alot better than standard. Ive fitted radial caliper brackets on mine to improve the front brakes. Great bikes arnt they!

They sure are, iconic and practical at the same time.

£1000 seems a lot of money when compared to the value of the bike itself. Appreciate the notable difference however it’s money spent that imo you’re not going to get back. But fairs fair. Looking to do similar modifications to my RRW 1998, so it’s great to see before during and after. Thanks for the videos

Hi Gordon I think the financial return on investment would be marginal at best for most of bigger non superficial mods. Performance return is very good though.

I don't know about you but I'd have been tempted to keep the original discs and shock. Now it's time to enjoy your Blade fully.

The discs were warped Keith as we said in the video.

@@blueyondermoto Yes I did hear that mentioned, I would ask by how much they were warped ? I used to work for a brake systems manufacturer, have you any idea how difficult it is to warp a disc. Theres a few different scenarios that would cause pulsing, warping is only one. I'm merely saying I would have kept them

Fantastic improvements! Would you say because of the new shock it is easier on the wrists and arms on bad roads? Are you capable of doing more miles on it now? It sure looks like a good investment to me (the bike is also safer I guess)

The shock tidy's up the handling and also does produce better ride quality. The brakes were night and day difference. With no abs you have to be very sensitive on the braking, but if you use the feel, stopping power is excellent.

Hi Pedro, try this link. I telephoned Hagon direct to place an order. They took my weight and type of riding I do and selected a spring to suit. The telephone number is on the main video description section. www.bits4motorbikes.co.uk/Hagon/Hagon-Monoshock.html
