Also how long do these batteries last if you maintain the battery as you have done in the video and also how often should one do this cleaning?

inlike toyoya hybrids the cooling system in Honda is very effective and good. for example the battery in my jazz now 12years old and still with 20% usable capacity. the toyota batteries fail prematurely mainly due to the cooling system not so good. specially in tropical countries where higher temperatures cause hybrids batteries lose its efficiency very fast.

Hello great video Can you tell me how to disconnect the BMA connection from the hybrid 144 v battery IMA so even if it's dead and turned off it would not take the power from the mouvement of car and this power will go directly to the 12 v battery in front. Thanks

hello mate , i hope you are well. sorry again I come with lots of questions :) I find a new problem in my car and I am not sure what is that ? there is no any issue on working the car . car work perfect but there is mistrusts noise ! when I start to move the car on very very low speed 5mil , I hear a noise like humming ! I hope i translate it right ... not very load . very low noise and when I push more gas the noise completely gone ! again when I push break the noise come back until the car stop . but if I push break slowly there is no noise and if my speed was high , noise come back . I dont know what is that . it is bad transition ? or it is going to die ? i am very worry because changing or repairing automatic CVT transition always very expensive even more than the value of the car ! and I change the CVT oil 1 year ago, I check it and it was full and clear .

hi mehr..im well thank you and hope u are too. regarding ur issue , if you have done the cvt oil change on proper cycles which is minimum every 30000kms and used genuine honda HMMF oil ! i don't think u need to worry about the cvt as it is a very reliable system. anyway since im not sure exactly what the noise is it could be few possibilities. first if its a squeaks or screeching noise (like metal on metal) it could be worn front brake pads.you can check that urself by visual inspection. possibility no 2 can be hub bearings. if its a slight humming noise it could be a initial sign of a hub bearing gng bad. this could happen if you have gone through some flood water etc. again lift the hood and check if the noise is coming from the engine compartment aswell when engine is idling. check the above first and let me know

@@skonemotorstudio4424 hi, thank you so much for replay, I bought my car from Honda company it is 2013, automatic and milage is 56000 and one owner. very clean and smooth car but not FAST !!! before I had Nissan micra 1.2 manual. it was amazing. anyway, I change the CVT oil at 45000 milage by the company . I just give my car to Honda company service not other mechanics. every year full service done by Honda. 1 month ago Honda change the Fuel filter too. no any issue or problem on the car. just this noise and it is not by breaking . not robbing metal to metal . just like I dont know how to explain . something like hoover ! but very very low noise . and some time there is no any sound . let me tell u something . in my steering car there is 2 item one - one + for change manual transmission . I found when I drive and my speed or acceleration is very slow , if I push the - the car jump like missile and accelerate very fast . so when I trow the engine and fuel cleaner in my tank , I do it many times . oh my god . I flying and the BMW cant catch me … but after that I dont do that again . maybe it make this noise on my car ? there is no any unusual noise when the engine work as idle . just when I move the car very very slowly ( some times ) or most times when I try to break and stop the car on high speed and again ( some times ) . thats it . my big problem is I dont know how to explain to Honda service this problem . maybe it was nothing … but they say until no amber check engine light turn on , so there is no any problem ! I know the sound of the hub bearing . my nissan micra had that problem when I driving I hear a sound like air plan ! but this one on deferent and comes ( think ) when the transmission try to change up gears revers to down gears to slow down the car . but not every time … :| holy god …

NO. the 12v battery is been charged by the IMA system not by a alternator so what will happen is the car will run but some components wont work and the 12v Battery will die and ur car will get stranded somewhere

hi. no brother. still didnt change mine also 12 years now. i scanned with my unit few weeks back just randomly to check and it showed a usable capacity of 20% still. back in 2016 when i got it checked it was 29%. so now i just passed 180k on the clock and still gng well.

can only diagnose visually brother. cleanup will help the cooling process. but 10 years of service is very good. the fan might start giving faults soon so be mindful. you will start to hear the fam louder means its running at full speed to cool the ipu etc.

My IMA light turns on after a short drive, even shorter when the headlights are on and playing music. Next the battery icon starts flashing till its just stays on after a long drive. What could be happening?

Hi walter.. i think you need to get a scan done asap . looks like, more ur car uses the 110v converted power for the electronics the inverter heats up and limits its functions and gives you warning. usually this start with a failing ipu module fan(the hybrid battery unit cooling fan) this is a normal failure that comes with time on the model. what happens is when the cooling fan fails to do its job(it has 5 speed ranges fyi) the 110v battery inverter gets heated up and then shuts off its functions. then you will lose ima assist and followed by various faults later on. NOW for the moment do not use ECO mode as it takes more power from the battery for everything. so till you get this scanned visiting your mechanic drive with eco off and use the aircon on full blow and make sure the whole cabin get well cooled. this will help the rear 110v battery and IPU cool down better. hopefully if your 110v battery cells have not gone bad you can replace the IPU module fan and then the problem will sort.make sure you get the genuine fan and after fixing get the system reset.

well degrading high voltage battery too effect mpg but mostly the gasoline engine needs attention too. periodical maintenance needed like efi and throttle body cleanup and O2 sensor cleanup also maf sensor cleanup and also keep a clean air filter too. have you done all this so far?

I’m look for a GP1 battery cooling fan. Does the wire connector clip vary from model to model, like depending on different options of the vehicle? Or is it the same for all models?

This im not quite sure Shardha, this is variable speed fan and may even have particular RPMs to each model. sometime the Insight modes fan may be similar to gp1. when replacing i was not sure about reco fans as u never know how they are until its been used for a while and then we will lose money replacing again. so i bought brand new from Tec motors panchikawatta. never had a battery trouble after. now my car is 11 years old and 165t kms after hybrid battery is still without a issue. this fan is very important for the longevity of the battery and the IMA inverter module.

Or is it only when driving. My battery fan only runs when the car is moving(tested this in for the first 5-10km)

what i have observed is that the fan doesn’t start immediately bit i think speed and temperature matters. usually when one or two speed stages fail in the fan what you can notice is the inverter unit get heated up than normal and then the fan kicks into top speed and that can be heard by rear passengers even. when this happened to my car at that time what i did was till i bought the new fan, i turned off eco mode then i removed all the covers in the back to exposed the fan etc and drove with air conditioner full on low to cool the cabin well ,this helping the battery cool down. this for couple of days till i bought the new replaced fan.

@@skonemotorstudio4424 Thank you for the update. My fan didn’t start immediately either, so that is not an issue. Yes, there could be some parameters(conditions) to fulfilled to fan to start working, battery temperature is one such parameter for sure. I too observed/heard the fan runs in full speed, even I can hear the fan from the driver seat. Mostly this happens, when the car comes to a halt/not moving e.g., stuck in a traffic, or as soon as the car is parked in the garage after running for a while. When this happens, the fan runs for few minutes and get turned off by itself. The IMA error message only appeared once, now I’m waiting the error come back again. Most probably there is some error in battery blower fan.

Hi priyanji. there are certain people claiming to sell or repair the ipu fan but its highly unlikely it will last. either you find a low mileage recon fan or if you planning on using the car for long time brand new would be headache free. if the fan doesn’t work properly the 110v battery will get damaged prematurely. don’t let that happen as unlike toyota models honda battery last so long.

it's stated that honda battery's last 8-10years with good care. My car is 2012 make, when i bought the car in 2016 the battery usable percentage was 30% and now its been 6 years and so far still gng on. maybe the retaining range is lesser but so far no battery failures. best is to get the battery checked from a honda agent if you are in doubt. mine being a tropical hot country lasting this long means its quite good. anyway compared to toyota battery honda is quite reliable.

dont expect lot of power on this model due to the cvt lag and low compression engine. but its quite comfy and fun to drive. good at cornering and decent kmpl if you know how to mange. and later if you want little more power you can always remap the ECU like i did.

well on a average with decent driving with econ on you can achieve 15-16kmpl city. Without AC during fuel shortages i got like 18-19 in city few months back also. out of city you can get about 25-26kmpl on average.

My IMA Light turns on when it’s hot outside thinking of clean it up, what do you think it should help? Because the fan is really working and I can hear it. At diagnostic they told me to change the fan but it’s working

hi denksta. i doubt cleaning would help sort the problem. the reason you are hearing the fan is that its running at maximum speed. the fan has about 5 stages of speed and im sure one of the lower speeds are at fault and that heats up the ipu module and then fan kicks in at full speed to cool down. if the techs asked to replace that means you better do it my friend. if possible with a genuine brand new one or a recon one with warranty would be fine. even the fan you are seeing in my video is a brand new one i replaced in 2020 as i got the same problem. don't let this continue as this will damage the hybrid battery and you will get into very expensive replacement. meanwhile crank up the Aircon at full 19/20 temp and point the center vents towards back of the car and it will help cool the battery till you get the fan replaced. this is a common problem in the gp1.

well. you can do thats but then h might need to do few stuff. like cat delete. O2 sensor deleter etc and a remap. but i doubt you can get much power brother as what we have is a Low compression engine and most of the system is optimized and designed for the hybrid system. so my advice is dont waste too much time as you may not get much out of it. rather go for RS hybrid

Hi Timothy. Usually once you replace the fan and do a reset the IMA warning should go away... Unless! Check again if I are getting the IMA warning followed by the Battery Icon. If that's the case your 110v battery cells are is damaged and you may have to replace them. Do a scan again and get the exact codes first and check.

the warning should go away once it’s replaced. but the error might stay written on the ecu tho its doesn’t show so next time you go to your mechanic get him to scan and clear.

Okay I have replaced the fan but after using the car for 2 hours it’s always on full speed is this normal I mean you can hear the sound like sitting next to a blower, the day temp was around 12 degree Celsius .

hi. assuming you replaced with a brand new fan and cleaned the whole air chambers erc before replacement and still its runs at high speed level,it means the inverter is still getting heated up and that could be bad battery cells etc. wait till a warnings indication and get the car scanned. fyi i just passed 150000km on my car and so far no issue out of the battery the new fan i replaced. being in a hot tropical country still i didn’t hear the fan run at full speed after replacement so far.

first you need to ware insulation gloves becouse you working with high voltage ( 100.8V ). make sure to use all ways insulation tools when working with high voltage..

Hi, can you help me? I have a Civic 2009 Hybrid. The battery have 174 Volts, (checked with multimeter) and it can't turn on. Only gasoline engine starts, with red battery warning. Usually I solve the problem turning on the car (gasoline engine) and waiting a few minutes sometimes the IMA blower turn on. I wait to hear the blower power off, then I turn the key off and again turn on. And the rear battery start with no problem. Red battery light turn off. What could be the problem?
