Update: I saved 6lbs by removing the rear seatbelts and another 25lbs by switching from an AGM to a Lithium-Ion battery.

Starting Friday, I will be camping in my Fit for 12 days. I’m calling it 12 days of Car camping Christmas. This is just to see what I need to keep in the car and any more modifications I may want to do. I’m hoping to shoot some short videos during my test run.

The sound deadner was available in 2-3 different thickness's. I went with the thickest one hoping to help with some heat insulation for camping. I also found out that name brand sound deadner weighs a bit less then the kind I used. Thank You!

Thanks for sharing your current list of mods, and breaking down the weights I think the Motocompacto is cool and a great companion to the Fit, especially a white one of course. I'll get one as soon as I find an excuse. 😀

You're welcome. I'm hoping to turn the MotoCompacto into my portable power station. I would be able to use the Scooter to run all of my camping gear, or unplug it to take it for a ride. Using the Compacto for a Power Station might even save me 10-20lbs compared to my current set-up. I just removed the two rear seat belts and the one from the headliner saving another 6lbs.

Good stuff! Im guessing you probably have considered a portable power supply like a Jackery or EcoFlow. Curious to know why you went with a diy setup over one of those and what the pros/cons are vs your current setup.

Pro's 1. Serviceability & Repair. You can't replace a fuse on most of these power stations! @HondaFitCamper plugged a heated blanket into his GoalZero power station and it shorted out the plug. He realised there wasn't a fuse panel to pop open and replace a fuse, so he had to send the unit in for service. 2. Customisation & Expansion. All of my devices are 12v or USB powered. I need more USB or 12v ports than I do AC outlets. I can add a larger battery or more ports as my needs grow. Con's 1. Price. You're most likely going to spend more money building your own. Wires, Cable Ends, & Tools will add up quick. 2. Mobility. The new Setup isn't as plug and play as the milk crate setup. This is not an issue for me because the 12v cooler can stay in the car and I can use USB battery banks for everything else outside of the car. If you require something that needs AC power, then you may want a small portable charging station with an AC outlet.

What tyres did you settle on in the end? 205/55/16 all round?

Yes, and there are no rubbing issues. I'm going to try 205/60/16 next. They should work fine in the back, but they may rub in the front while at a full turn.
