Honda did miss the mark on this car. They should have made an Si with the base RSX K20 that made 160hp like they did with the mid 2000's Civic hatch. That thing would have sold well!

don't kid yourself, these cars are laughed at by most new car shoppers. notice how Brian said 75-80% are autos?... retired folks buy them. 50k/year average sales, which is 1/7th of civic sales.

@elmayimbe_the_amateur_mechanic Жыл бұрын
@@bgee461, I see plenty of non retired people driving the sport model especially to these with the 17 inch wheels and leather seats. These days you can get a bunch of tech in the late models. Just put the 5MT in it and and base K20 and that is it. It is still has less power and torque than the Si Civic. The Fit in this trim would work well. Hell, you could even offer it with the automatic from the RSX. They'd have a legit 3 offerings for sports cars. The fit is way smaller and lighter than the Civic as the Civic is huge! (almost the size if a Lexus IS). You tune the suspension and this thing would be just as fun, if not more fun than the mid 2000's Si hatchback. There, I have stated my case!
@elmayimbe_the_amateur_mechanic Жыл бұрын
@@criSOME1, fine. You could just use the complete auto swap outta the RSX with 160hp. The most horsepower a fit has had is 128. 32hp extra and raise the redline from 6800 to 7000. Also, this is a K20 so buyers would already have a plethora of options to add more power already.
@TassieLorenzo Жыл бұрын
@@bgee461 "these cars are laughed at by most new car shoppers." I have to disagree. Most people who have one, *love them.* They are so practical and still are more sporty & fun to drive than a comparable Toyota Yaris (if not quite as sporty as say a Ford Fiesta). The same goes for people loving the 8th-9th Civic hatchbacks which are a Civic front end and a Fit rear end (but obviously widened considerably, by about 250mm/10"). The magic seats and practicality is *awesome!* The cargo area with the seats folded down is just as large as the 10th-11th gen hatchbacks, despite the car being a foot shorter. You can fit two sets of wheels with tyres in there, with room to spare, it's crazy. I love that about my 8th-gen FN2 Civic Type R. The Fit-based 9th-gen FK2 Civic Type R is still my favourite turbo Civic Type R too. The torsion beam rear end gets a lot of criticism, but the Renault Clio RS and Megane RS are also beam rear ends and handle great, while Ichishima-san from Spoon had a lot of praise for the stiffness of the double layer Fit floor pan. Honestly, IRS is not that important in a front wheel drive and it's arguably still better than the IRS on the EP3/DC5 which was a lot worse than the old EF-EK version (i.e., the EP3/DC5 lack rear suspension stroke) for reasons known only to Honda, plus those 7th gens having issues with front end geometry too (so the suspension layout was not great all round compared to the TSX). Not all IRS is created equal -- the EF-EK version and 8th-gen sedan to current versions of IRS are great, of course.

Do any of you guys own a K24? I say that because this motor will make 225-235 WHP with quality bolt-ons and a tune. The stock k24a2 in the Tsx is severely choked from the factory. Man, my hand hurt watching you shift gears without a shift knob. I love white shift knobs, too. I had a white Sickspeed Cue Ball shift knob in my old 2007 Ford Fusion. I never thought about the black ones heating up in the sun but it makes sense. One time, I had a polished aluminum one on my Fusion and that thing would definitely cook your hand in summer. I love your Fit. I have a friend who has one from the last year that they sold them in the US and he absolutely loves it. It really is a shame that Honda stopped selling them here, it's amazing how much room that little car has on the inside and it was really nice and affordable, too. I guess at least the rest of the world can still enjoy them. Very nice project. I wonder if the reason for the heat soak is because of where your intake tube is running to, it seems like it'd be getting a lot of hot air from there. Keep up the great work, that is a very nice swap.

There was a brief time that I sold parts to HASPort back in the day. We’re talking like ‘03’ish from Vegas Acura… back then it was Falconi’s. The idea being that we were another source for shift linkages and other small stuff they had issues procuring and if we had them why not send them over. Brian and the guys I dealt with were amazing and class act. I had Blue ‘00 SI coupe at the time and they were messing around with some new mounts… or rather the solid durometer center. They sent over the rear mount to test out and man that thing was a piece of shear beauty and performed really well. What a great group of people. Now I’m much older and don’t do swaps and such. But I do have a virgin ‘96 GSR and a clean CX EG that I would like to build for the kids to mess around with. I used to work for a Honda dealership, and had always thought Honda should compete with Ford's Fiesta ST. But it never happened. My personal idea, was not to give it the Si engine from the civic, rather just use the base 1.8 civic engine. It would go from 117 hp to about 140. Add that with a 5 speed and it would be a fun little car from the factory. I argue the 1.8, because it wouldn't overpower the Fit, and keep costs down for Honda.

My last car was a GK Fit, there weren't too many suspension options when I got it and the common thing was to run Koni Orange for the GE with your choice of lowering springs. Supposedly they were not quite centered in the range of travel for the rears, but they worked fine until they wore out. By that time the Honda sport suspension was released for the GK, and it felt significantly better on the damping. I'd be curious to see someone try the GK factory parts on the GE, if the GE shocks work for both it stands to reason that the GK would as well. Especially for a daily, the moderate drop of the factory sport setup worked better for me.

I've been there. Played tennis tournaments in 102°F with over 90% humidity. It does suck. The really big problem with 115+ degrees is how hot the interior of a car gets. Dashes, shift knobs and seatbelt buckles get up in the 150-160 range regardless of humidity. Grabbing a 160° seatbelt buckle cans cause blisters. Also AC cools a car in 105°F with 80% humidity weather way faster than a car in 115°F. And it dehumidifies.

The main problem no company makes more than 2" exhaust for Fits, and to make a custom one is not easy where it bends a lot passing over rear axle. Would love if some company makes 2.5-3". Mine is k24a2 Swapped Fit plus its a turbo. I have to make a cutout butterfly valve becoz turbo would just choke with 2.5". I once tried 3" exhaust but the space is so tight , it rubbed with car body when my family was onboard and it freaked them out that something bad is happening under the car. So had to shift back to 2.5" with varex muffler plus another open cutout to air. now i have control over sound/power. with varex muffler its quiet just like a stock car, but with open ,, wow

Looking for a 09-2010 Fit now. Definitely looking to K swap once I do.

Now just the people that know what's up will have them. Around 2017/18 there was talk of the Fit Si, but then Ford killed the Fiesta ST and Honda didn't see the point.

Re: intake tube...at full throttle it's using open loop anyways where it doesn't care what the MAF says? I've also been on the TL-S throttle body and intake setup on my Accord which I think is like a 8mm difference and the ECU doesn't care. It just trims the fuel a few percent and keeps going.

Wide ratio when boosted is better for building boost pressures
