Honda GL1000/SOHC 750F Rear Caliper Piston Removal Procedure

This intructional video shows how to remove pistons from the rear calipers found on GL1000 Gold Wings and SOHC CB750F Super Sports. Rather than use compressed air, which is not always successful and is potentially dangerous, hydraulic pressure is used instead.

Like Jerry W Davis mentions (2 years ago) how to do you properly remove the caliper from the bike? and how to do so without spilling brake fluid everywhere?

It's best to use a syringe to empty the master cylinder of all the fluid and with the bleeders open (and a clear tube over the bleeder going into a jar) pump out the remaining fluid that's in the lines and calipers. Then carefully loosen the banjo bolt and have a rag ready to wrap around the brake hose. It's going to want to drip, so use a piece of duct tape to hold the rag around the banjo fitting. Up above, make sure to have a damp towel covering the tank and anything else that you might accidently drip fluid on when you drain the master cylinder.
