In Switzerland it would have forced him into Bankrupcy without crashing, just by using the throttle as he did. It´s the "Höllental" in Lower-Austria (read the discription as Schaaf said). But you´re right, it´s beautiful. ;)

Dear Schaaf, You don;'t know but u quenched my thirst of a very long time about having to witness this drive. I am a die hard fan of Goldwing, can't have it for it will eat away my kids college. However i pray May Allah reward u with something u never dreamed off. Amen
Guys, if you watch what Schaff is doing, and likewise listen, his throttle actions are perfectly matched to what can be seen of the upcoming road that is visible in the distance. That is staying ahead of the machine and not letting the machine get ahead of you! Over-aggressive riders will push the throttle past what is in their line of sight, hoping they can either brake without losing traction, or that the unseen curve will open up to their advantage. The bike may sound aggressive, and it definitely sounds hearty, but Schaff is driving well within the cautious and conservative range. Try dragging the pegs on my '81 Goldwing (10" high when level), and you definitely will know the meaning of "hard cornering", lol! I am always amazed at the light handling that Honda has managed to build into the Goldwing with every generation! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I felt you had the urge to pass that trailer at 6:36, and decided to hold back.....and just 30 seconds later I knew you were itching to make that pass.........looks like it was a good decision, lol! Thanks for the excellent demo ride Schaff!

Nice to see the new ones still sound great. It sounds almost exactly like my 40 year-old wing that still has stock exhausts. I might need to upgrade though, I recently got smoked by liter sport bikes a couple of times. Was ahead until about 85 mph, but then they got by. After 150k miles, it's starting to feel a little weak. It doesn't pull quite as hard as it used to and feels wobbly over 80 in the curves.

Depends maybe it didn't get slower because of high miles. Maybe it just feels slower compared to some sport bikes.

Your four cylinder wing sounds nothing like that new six cylinder.Sorry.
@jackandblaze5956 Жыл бұрын
@@joycecottingham9432 Well, yes and no. Below 6000 RPMs with stock exhaust in good condition, the 4 cylinder Goldwings sound similar... as smooth as a sewing machine, and beefy. There is no other bike that sounds like that besides a six cylinder Goldwing (maybe you've never heard a GL1100 with stock exhaust). The main difference is the redline on the GL1000 was 8500 rpm and 8000 on the GL1100. Above 6000 rpm, the GL1100 wakes up and pulls hard to at least 8200, unless it has the big carbs for 1982, then they pull strong up to 8500. There is no fuel or ignition cutoff. Your 1800 definitely doesn't sound better at 8000 rpm, because it will never see 8000 rpm. Your redline is 6k and your fuel cutoff is around 6200. You could reprogram the computer, swap out the fuel injection for six carbs, and change the cam profile to get to 8k, but then it wouldn't sound stock anymore. And if you think your 1800 is significantly quicker than an 1100, bear in mind that the standard GL1100 weighs 595 lbs, 200 lbs less than a 2023 Goldwing. Your 2023 GL1800 has a higher top speed, 140 mph vs 128 for the old dog, but the quarter mile is similar, the GL1100 being 12.47 seconds @ 107.39 and 0-60 mph in 4.2 sec. The 2023 Wing does 0-60 in 3.9 but it needs premium fuel, the old dog does not. I hope to get a GL1800 at some point but I'll keep the old ones around just for the nostalgia.

Honestly, this is how this motorcycle should be ridden, I think. Goldwing desrves a rider, who can utilize the power, suspension and stability. Great video. Btw, I admire fantastic corner judgement. In one tight corner you knew the peg will limit and slowed down right on time. Hearing the pegs scratching all the time one could say, why the hell they are not a bit higher and let the bike go faster...

You probably dont notice this but when a goldwing takes off, it sounds like a plane or spaceship. You cant really tell when youre riding but if you stand behind one while it takes off, you’ll hear the power and its truly breathtaking.
