According to the forums that I've seen, you can actually ride the Grom wide open throttle for long periods of time without any issues.

Yes, except for a common issue they have from what sounds like a bearing that overheats in the trans - makes a loud metal on metal sound mostly in gear 3 & 4. Mine has this issue. However I’ve ridden with it on literal 200-500 mile rides at WOT for hours on end and it hasn’t broken anything yet.

Anything under 150cc is illegal to ride on highways, but that only applies for Cali. If your bike can do the minimum speed, safely, you can be on the highway.

Here is why you SHOULDN'T do this. Lets say you're on the highway and traffic is being "nice" that day and instead of the typical 65-75mph most drivers do on the 55 mph highway everybody is actually doing 50 YOU are able to go 60 (with a lean) so your good to go right? Except there is an immediate traffic problem ahead and you need to brake hard then accelerate to 65 at a MINIMUM immediately to avoid a imminent disaster. Most of you even in this very real scenario will miss the biggest of several problems here. In short you are the word that rythmes with "plucked", and to think you should have never been up there in the first place. Take care.😊

Wow, the Grom did really well! Wish the minimum legal limit in California was 125 cc instead of 150. And to be honest I usually don't even drive my car faster than you were going, to save gas, although I guess a car is a lot safer to get rear ended in than a bike. Also are you in Irvine by any chance? I've been up to OC enough times I recognized the street name "Barranca".

The Grom would technically not pass being that the engine is 124 cc's. Although I don't think you would actually get in any real trouble for that.
