First thing I do with these Honda is to pull fuel tank, clean it out and replace fuel screen fitting Now it’s time to work out buggs and carb

Next time you do a bowl clean put the drain screw in and then put a 6mm bolt in the bottom hole and tighten up, that way you can fill the bowl up and remove all scale and rust. The cowl has to come off to fit the on/off switch, the tab has to be straight to insert, then you bend it to earth on the cowl !! 👍😎

That long tube in the carb center is the emulsion tube. The main jet is the little piece with the tiny hole and flat head with threads.

it's a very nice video. My method of cleaning is disassembling all the carburetor parts and even removing the air filter parts, putting them in a perforated container. Then I have it washed in the dishwasher with dishwashing liquid hand soap. There is no oil, rust or dirt left. The dishwasher already does the drying.

That is an extremely interesting way to clean a carburetor.. I’ll have to try that sometime 🤔
@456eec3 жыл бұрын
Your air cleaner is an oiled foam type. It is meant to be soaked in oil. To clean it use some degreaser to clean the dirty oil out. Squeeze out and let dry then re-oil with filter oil which is avalable at any motorcycle shop.

The grey plastic lever you removed after clamping the fuel line off is the plug for your fuel line. If you look at it you'll see which way it goes!😉

The 1 in the middle is the main jet and the one on top of it is the spray bar and the black jet on top is the air jet and there is a small hole the gets plugged and that is what makes the engine surge up and down
@ChrisXOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the info John 💪🏼
@CarlosDeJesus-f1h8 ай бұрын
There is a black plastic screw on the left side facing the front. When you unscrew it you can get to another plastic screw. Make sure that the jet is not clogged. That will stop the surging engine.

Hi what is the normal state of the kill switch when starting the engine, is the circuit open or closed?

It’s open. Closing the circuit kills the engine

Great video. Gives me confidence to start tackling some basic small engine upkeep, particularly with the carburetor. BTW, was the engine still surging at the end slightly or was that just the audio?

Running a pump with no water in it, will destroy the seal between engine shaft and impeller face in short order. Usually in less than 1 minute.

@@GustavoGarcia-gt6fjif you have changed the spark plug and it is still doing this I would check the spark when it cuts out to see if possibly the coil is worn. Or it could be a swollen float bowl valve needle that it slowing down the rate of fuel entering the float bowl. Best way to find out if your fuel is coming out slow is to take the fuel bowl off while that carburettor it's still on the engine and see how much your drops out as it should be a considerable amount. If it is barely coming out I would suggest that could be a blockage or the needle valve is swollen gas stopping the fuel from coming this stopping the fuel from coming out. I would also look at not consuming animal products as starvation to the brain can cause confusion. If you do research on how much better a plant-based diet is you will get incredibly smart and fast. I promise you this my friend

Hi there. I have a brand new honda gx390 engine. When I wnet to start it up, it started at first pull. Then when i moved the choke to the right (off position) it would shut down and stall. It would take me 3 pulls to start it up properly then it would run just fine. I checked the main jet and it was clean! I do mention the gas is a couple months old would that be the problem? The air filter and everything else is clean and fresh oil.
@ChrisXOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Hi Petru. Thank you for reaching out. The gas could be the problem but I'm not 100% sure without looking at it. So it runs fine now? It just needs 3 pulls to start?
