Good stuff bro. I appreciate the bit about the shields. I left mine off for looks but I saved them so I'll put them back on. I should have known there was a purpose.z the timing advantage ce is good info too. All good stuff thanks

The whole intake, exhaust theory is awesome. I've been having that problem on my gx200. My compression is a little to high and my exhaust not as long as I need and the carb to close and straight inline with the head. I'm going to make some changes like you were doing and see how that helps

Thanks for the view and the comment brother. I believe to overcome your issue a three stage exhaust would do it, check out robertson torque tubes, or a “build your own exhaust kit from studz racing. plan it out carefully so you can create the stages which aid in keeping that scavenging vacuum high. I believe with increased cam lift and duration, you must use increased compression, together they will create enough of an explosive decompression when the exhaust valve opens that when paired with the long tube header really pull good negative pressure on the cylinder in time for the intake valve opening, that cures the spit back and the double and triple carburetion. Now if you tune that intake length as well you can get the intake harmonics to supercharge the cylinder within the rpm range the cam was designed to shine in and you will have created a monster!! I knew someone out there would be helped by this information on day! Glad it was you! Good luck, follow up.

Great video! I’m happy to have found you. What are your thoughts on removing the crank counter balance when modifying the gx270? Thanks, Mike

Nice video! Just realized I screwed up the plug threads on my Simpson pressure washer that has this Honda gx270 The pressure washer is like $1300 these days so I’m hoping to pull the head off and replace it with clean threads. Do you think this is worth it? What are the probabilities that some shavings got down in there and messed up the engine?

Thanks for watching and for commenting buddy, I am glad you liked the video. You can pull the head and take it along with the spark plug down to a reputable local machine shop for a Helocoil, or some sort of thread insert repair like a time-cert. Don’t forget to get a new head gasket, muffler gasket, carb gaskets and spark plug; Get genuine Honda parts for the gaskets but in aftermarket I have had good results with the E3 spark plug. I would change the oil and vacuum the cylinder when the head is off and run the piston up and down by hand cranking slowly, should be fine. Don’t forget to torque the head down evenly and to specification, do not over torque it and adjust the valves properly upon reinstalling everything.

Do you know if the gx270 and the gxv270 share any upgradable engine parts?

No, have you? Actually gathering parts for a monster predator 420 build which will go in a golf cart. The problem I had with this one was it needed more compression to match the cam, once I bumped it up she ran like a beast!

180 added a snowmobile top end suction jet as well to keep it well fueled at WOT, did you see the video of it running? I would like to add a torque converter and i need to put in the secondary valve springs 48lbs still floats at 75-7600 rpm!
