How would you say the road noise is, does it get tiring over long distances? And how does it go over the bumps - will it make my bones shake? Thinking of upgrading from my old 2008 Honda Civic and road noise and quite firm suspensions are currently my main concerns.

Good questions. Road noise is quite average. Since HR-V has more ground clearance and quite big wheels, its more sensitive to road surface quality than most sedans and hatcbacks (many crossovers and small SUV’s are). On very smooth asphalt, HR-V is very quiet and on very rough asphalt surface (like in Finland) noisier, but not an issue. But I have never felt road noise been tiring over long distance driving. I can drive listening music (I use quite low volume) or not listen anything…and enjoy driving all the same. In general road noise is not bothering me, even I am more sensitive to loud noises. In general with higher ground clearance, suspension needs to be slightly stiffer to keep safe on road handling. If I remember correctly how that model version Civic was to drive; I think suspension is very similar. Overall I liked that generation Civic , I was considering it that time. Most Honda’s seems to have more comfortable suspension than for e.g. Toyota or Kia…just an example. One big reason for me to buy HR-V was more comfortable suspension. I have been really pleased with HR-V’s suspension. In daily drive it is very comfortable. On fast heavy bumps (fast suspension movement and long suspension travel) I can notice suspension to be bit stiff (probably to avoid bottoming out due it has longer travel suspension). And transversal cracks (seams etc.) on road can be noticed, but its not unpleasant. But because of this suspension has good feedback and driving is responsive. It is not sporty or harsh suspension, just comfortable but responsive (more suited to relax driving). Compared to many other crossovers or small SUV, HR-V’s suspension is softer than most. Also more enjoyable to drive than most other. Surprisingly also HR-V’s seat is softer and more comfortable than my previous Renault Talisman had. But bot as soft as my previous previous Subaru XV’s seats. However I prefer HR-V seats. On some other cars I have tested, I had issues with lumbar area on long drive. If you have possibility to test drive, I would recommend to test HR-V.

@@jonibeebeesplaytime Thanks for your answer! I tried the Civic e-hev earlier this summer, and while I quite enjoyed it, the missing magic seats and quite low ground clearance is what bothered me (due to snowy winters and bad parking infrastructure, needing to occasionally drive over curbstone). In that regard HR-V seems pretty nice. I really like the look of the car, so I will probably do the test drive soon. What trim level do you have? I'm considering the middle trim (called "Advance" here).

@@foiabun1 Ah, ok. I was also considering to wait for Civic e:HEV at first…but chose to get HR-V e:HEV due ground clearance and magic seats. Yeah, magic seats is nice feature to have. I was considering CR-V e:HEV few years ago, but since it had the same 1.5 engine… 1.5 is perfect size for Jazz and HR-V, but not CR-V… I was positively surprised with HR-V’s ability to get off from snowy parking spot. Really good for FWD car…I think it helps a lot that drive is from electric motor and it is really smooth…helps to keep traction. Definitely no issues with ground clearance. Looks is very classic, which I like. Should look appealing still after 10 years. I have mid trim, Advance. For me it had all needed (on more than that) for reasonable price. Advance Style would add nice things, but not really necessary things.
