I got the molding lined up and banged it on with my hands like you did here, but the plastic was so brittle that I broke literally every single plastic mounting point on the molding and now I have to find a way to glue this whole thing back in place or find an insight in a junkyard to pull one off of. I don't recommend being as aggressive these days with the plastic being so old now to anyone reading. Be extra careful assuming you didn't already break a bunch of the mounting points while pulling the molding off.

Hey Scott, great video! I attempted this in the summer by using some leftover Chemlink M1 sealant used on roofing projects. It very low viscosity so it seeps into every crevice and skins over in 20 minutes in the heat. Very useful. Turned out it worked, no wet seatbelt/frozen seat belts! Great product. Keep up the good work, love the videos.

I just made a video on how to remove the headliner and rear trunk plastics, and noticed that I also have this leak. I’m going to go ahead and fix this while everything is removed!

Scott, thanks for sharing your knowledge with KZbin videos. I would like to take care of the wet seatbelts in my Honda Insight 2000. In one of your videos you indicate that you have clips available to reinstall the trim pieces above the doors. Please let me know if you still have some available. Thanks Ulrich

Awesome video.. my friend has a 2005 Honda Insight and I noticed that does pieces of molding we're kind of loose I don't know if it was from a windshield replacement or what but I will ask him about the wet seat belt thing. But I did notice while driving his car a thumping and knuckling noise at my feet only on the driver side kind of feels like a ball joint or a suspension arm bushing.. will lift it up soon.. it's got 185,000 . And he does bottomed out in the back.. love the spring replacement video..

After you have cut off the moulding clips and removed the moulding, how do you remove the leftover plastic pieces that are in the pillar? Thin needle nose, or something else that can compress the expansion parts inside the hole to facilitate removal and replacement with new?
