I'm sick of those comparisons between diesels and hybrids. They're not environmentally comparable - and if you go for the financial side, please also consider depreciation, regular maintainance costs (fuel filters, oil, etc) and also service costs if engine stuff breaks down. Do you know how much it costs to replace a turbo or a fuel injector for a diesel fiesta? Or an EGR valve cleanup?

I've never had an injector problem with a diesel done over 300k in a bmw 3 series cheap to run however a hybrid isn't as fun to drive but I will give hybrids this efficient for all town driving but motorway driving it fails compared to a diesel.

strange, I actually love the noise when it rev up.. it gives a feeling of driving.. i had a toyota, it was so bouncy, i understand it was for comfort at the same time it makes a SWAY feelings but when i drive my friend's honda city, it was BUMPY but you feel in control because you know your car is stable on the road when u speed.. anyone with me? :-)

These are all reasons why you see more Fit Hybrid imports from Japan than Jazz Hybrids. More fuel efficient, better build quality, better car. Also has an infotainment unit, which is nice!

Shame the car is gone and Honda gave up without a fight. The counter arguments were the usual ones. 1.) Diesel does same mlieage (and unknowingly at that time, poisons every man, woman and children thanks to it's cheatbox). 2.) CVTs rev at kickdown (which is what any petrol NA cars will do, works as intended and still sounds better than a rattle rattle diseael. Besides, I'd buy Honda for high reving engines).

@rev2xs The v. first Prius was HARDLY a supermini. It was the size of a Corolla roughly, and a lot bigger than a Yaris. You couldn't get 4 adults in a Yaris comfortably but you could in a G1 Prius. And the G1 Insight was smaller than the G1 Prius

i think people miss the point of hybrid drive, the engine isnt running all the time so when ur at the lights, or in traffic your not using any fuel! that to me is the single biggest annoyance of modern day motoring, sitting in queues of traffic squandering my money by leaving the engine on, stop/start technology is far better, you can have a manual gearbox for a start and choose if you have it on or off, i like the idea of silently driving on an electric motor but id rather have stop/start

Hybrid doesn't work well on small cars. The motor and batteries saps up so much power off this engine especially its a series hybrid. The engine has to work harder with the electric-motor when it's charging. Works better if it has a bigger engine with a parallel hybrid so there will still be enough horsepower to haul you around with enough horsepower only when it needs charging.

Its not a hybrid! Its has a extra 48V battery with stop-start. This is a very bad idea. Do not buy!
