The 4-Link suspension was designed and fabricated here in Pakistan as well. While I didn't build the 4-Link bit, the electricals and other things were my department in this build among racing it as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqLTqIKBmN5sha8si=DVZd1J39c0y1SPh7

Good work, appreciate your real precise fabrication work. Kudos from India. You could have cut a small square in the bonnet and brought out the air intake for a cold air intake.
@funcariauto10 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the appreciation brother! Great to see you here! About the cut in the hood, originally, I thought that the intake manifold may be too tall and might not clear the hood, I had planned a scoop in the hood in the back of my mind, but eventually, when I did put the hood on, I realized that it clears the hood with about 1.5 inches to spare so I skipped the idea of a scoop. As this is a daily driven vehicle, a cut in the hood can cause issues such as hydro-locking of the engine in the rain if the intake pulls water in, so what I did was, in the air cleaner that I made towards the end, I added an pickup pipe that is pointed downwards, behind the transmission area, where it gets relatively cooler air from.

Hi, I am from India. Have to appreciate the craftsmanship and ingenuity of the technicians. It was fun watching the video. In India engine swaps were usually done using the Suzuki Baleno 1.6 or Honda 1.5. most of the builds were based on the Zen, Which is the older generation Alto. That had a G10 engine which wasn't that bad. But with a G16B it becomes a monster.
@funcariauto10 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the appreciation! Glad to see you on here! Yes, here too people generally swap the G13, G15 and G16s into other suzukis and in this Alto and that indeed makes for a very good power to weight ratio, turning the car into a monster. I've seen a couple of M13 swaps as well. This particular Alto also had a G10 as the G10 was offered in the Alto in Pakistan. My objectives for the swap were a little different though because I needed to car to be Automatic while maintaining good fuel average which the G series with auto transmission doesn't offer so I went with this engine as it is very fuel efficient even in heavier cars like the Honda City.

@@funcariauto Wel Come Bro. I am a bit CONFUSED for (TECHINICAL REASON) this transformation because the Engine Size is far bigger than the Given Space in ALTO's engine bay area. So the New engine can't get better air throw and may lead to heat up. Only one fan was installed in the Radiator too and its Distance from the Engine is quite short. BUT YOU CAN BETTER EXPLAIN.

L13A is more powerful than the Pakistani L12 that comes in IDSI. Honda Pakistan labeled it 1300CC engine for Pakistani market even though its 1246CC. 2nd swap I did 7AFE in Indus and the engine was not coming out of limp mode mechanics tried and electricians as well for 2 days than I took that car home and gave me 4 KMPL average haha started working on wiring and fixed the car. Swaps are fun and frustrating as well and a lot of hard work goes into them. Great work.
@funcariauto10 ай бұрын
That is true, the L13A is more powerful than the L12 offered in the local city. At the time, honda was trying to compete with the Xli/Gli and if they told the market that its a 1200cc city, it would've hurt their sales so I guess they went with badging the car with a 1300cc tag. Haha, yes, swaps are fun until you're stuck with something. But that also is a fun part of the swap once you've figured it out and you look back at it.

Very good planning with a fine fabrication gave an awesome result from the video I could understand. I have a few queries like 1.How the difference in weight was able to overcome. 2. was the lower arm & strut where changed. 3. Can the front cross member be rigid enough to take the twisting moment of the stabilizer, usually it used to be in the subframe or chassis.
@funcariauto10 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for the appreciation! Let me answer one by one. 1. The original engine that this car came with was an F10a, which has an iron head and an iron block. The Honda L13A is an aluminum head and aluminum block so the engine even though is larger than the F10A, it's actually lighter. The CVT transmission however is much heavier than the original gearbox so the combined weight difference of the previous engine and the gearbox and the current one is around 20-25kg. Add about 10-15kg more for other parts, and we are looking at a weight difference of about 40kg. That's not a lot of weight added but I've strengthened the chassis with a full crossmember at the bottom that ties 4 integral corners of the chassis, and a strut bar on top, as you'll see in the video and in addition to that, the suspension has stiffer springs, both at the front and the back that lower the car and reduce the body roll. Currently, it's handling the added power very well and the car handles very well too. I do plan on adding a stabilizer bar in the rear some time in the future though, that should further help with the stability. 2. The control arms are the standard ones, they were not changed. My original plan was to convert the control arms into an A-Arm design but after trying 4 different iterations, I accepted that there isn't enough space to accommodate that without cutting up important areas in the chassis, so I let it go. The struts are also the standard ones, only the springs were changed. As the engine isn't all that heavy as one would normally expect, the struts are managing the weight very well and the ride quality isn't compromised. This being a daily driven vehicle, I couldn't go with coilovers as that drastically decreases the ride the quality. 3. The stabilizer bar on the alto is not bolted directly onto the chassis, there is a plate on each corner of the chassis that serves as a place to mount the strut bar and to serve as a gusset to reduce flex in the chassis. What I've done is, I have replace one of those plates with my own design to work around the AC compressor. This plate is now made of 5mm thick MS welded using 7018 rods, compared to a 3mm thick plate originally installed by the manufacturer. And with added gusseting within in the design, this should be at least as strong as the original and may in fact be even stronger.
