This video helped my understand how to remove the top of the fairing as knowing where the clips (and what type) are positioned, is a great advantage. Still rather nerve-racking, but managed to remove without breaking any bits off. Appreciated.

Thanks for the video! Q:As you are connected directly to the battery, aren't you concerned that an accessory left connected overnight could discharge the battery? Also, can I ask what size fuse you use?
@AfricaTwin-Stuff4 жыл бұрын
It’s my own stupid fault if I leave a power draining accessory on overnight and it drains the battery! Fuse - 12, as I wanted it to be able to drive my heated vest.
@woxiduswoxidus11676 жыл бұрын
drawback of direct connection to the battery- if you forget USB socket or connected device it may cause draining you battery within night or few hours or few days... recommendation is re-wire it to ignition switch and usb port make work.only while driving. turning of ignition turn offs usb port.
@AfricaTwin-Stuff6 жыл бұрын
Woxidus Woxidus - don’t agree. By direct wiring I can use it to charge the battery. And if I’m stupid enough to leave a device plugged in that drains the battery (cannot think of one off hand) then I deserve a flat battery.

@@AfricaTwin-Stuff Good lithium batteries have BMS that wont allow for such full discharge. They will shut down the battery when they detect too much parasitic drain on the battery that drops it below a certain point. The system always leaves enough juice to restart the battery. I love lithium despite their expense. Antigravity and Full Spectrum power are the 2 companies that have this feature. Havent found others that have it.

Would it be possible to have the 12v socket inside of the trunk but run my phone charger cable from the inside of the frunk to the handlebar so that I can charge my phone while using navigation? Or would that squish the cable?
@AfricaTwin-Stuff4 жыл бұрын
Yes it’s possible. I’ve done it myself. But it does slightly compromise the waterproof of the lid.

Do you know where there is a live feed near there that will allow the charging point to turn on and off with the ignition please? Would drain the battery if you forgot to unplug it wouldn't it? Great videos by the way. Looking at getting myself an NC750 after watching how easy it seems to be to work on it. Cheers from the UK

I have the honda socket similar to yours I think. I think I blew a fuse with my air compressor today. Socket went dead shortly after plugging it to compressor. Is that fuse hard to replace?
@AfricaTwin-Stuff4 жыл бұрын
Vance Smith - if it’s exactly like mine then the fuse is in the line and is a standard type. If it’s a Honda installed plug then you may find the fuse in the fuse box. I don’t think the Honda installed plug is meant for anything heavier than phone charging.

My XMAX does, but it is made for city riding. Most ADV bikes are advertised for travel and off road, so I guess they think you wouldnt want to charge stuff away from the city :/ But it might also be a way to make more money. I came looking for this because Honda wanted to charge $80 for a 12v optional in the seat storage. Here the only tool I dont have is that drill piece, but I have a drimmel so I think I should be able to install one for an hour of time and $20?

Why is the power socket not a USB (or Dual USB) plug? Is there any need for an old fashioned power socket, which will require an adapter to plug your modern electronics into?
@waltermh1114 жыл бұрын
It provides a lot more power and flexibility than a USB socket. You can trickle charge your battery directly from a 12v for example, or run non-USB devices. My tire pump can run from the 12v I believe. So while you may call it old fashioned, that is only in the same way that any wall plug is old fashioned. It still does the job best for the most amount of things due to its high energy input/output.

Could this drain a battery without anything plugged in? I fitted one and my battery died, coincidence or error?
@AfricaTwin-Stuff3 жыл бұрын
If fitted correctly - No. Power doesn’t leak out like water from a hose. It’s has to be used up by something drawing current. My setup does not draw current unless something is plugged into the socket.
