Huge fan of DCT, especially in the city. Bought the NT 1100 a few months ago and am thoroughly enjoying it. Very stable in both very low and high speeds. Only thing missing is a place for the smartphone while using CarPlay.

Really liked it. Quite a surprise. I guess a phone mount might work given it needs the cable. Shame there is not a place with the USB inside it. 👍

Deep down I’m a Honda guy so a little biased. Only criticism is it’s a little agricultural at low revs. For most people this is a much better suited bike than the Africa Twin (which I once owned). 👍

27k that is impressive. I always knew the 790 was a great engine. I didn't get an Mpg. It being DCT, if you rode it in Drive it'd probably get 250 miles to 20L. But I doubt anybody would do that. 180 miles to a tank looks more likely. Not as far as a 790 that is for sure 👍

Modern Oxford heated grips do not stay on after ignition switched off, either when wired into the harness or if wired direct to battery. I have two bikes one where Oxford grips wired in to harness. The second bike has it direct to battery, where, unless switched off at Oxford controller they switch off automatically when a preset voltage drop is detected (so if you re-start the bike before the controller automatically switches off the grips they will still be on.

Rode both.... except for the engine, I clearly prefer the NT1100. The reason why I bought it over the Tiger was wind protection, comfort (!) and luggage - so typical tourer capabilities. This thing is definitely one of the best tourers out there, especially at that price point. Can't wait to get it out of the garage in spring! 🤤

What would you prefer: Honda NT 1100 or Yamaha Tracer 9GT, and why?
@CodgerBiker

Not ridden the Tracer 9GT, but I’m sure both bikes are great. It’d be down to individual preference after test riding both, checking out availability and deal offered. As well as that indefinable something that makes one bike suit one person over another.

I bought a 22' 9GT and have just px'd it for the NT DCT.. I found the 9GT to buzzy... Was a wonderful ride tho.. but there's something about the Honda the moment I got on it.. more relaxed.. more comfortable.. just easier to live with... At 7:20 the reason you like manual shifting is because DCT shifts too early in drive mode. Makes no sense. Don’t ride it in drive mode 🤪 I’m pretty sure sport mode 2 or 3 is going to shift smoother and faster then you can.

Had a new VFR800 recently and a few minor issues which should have been sorted out. After only a few months I give up as my local Honda dealer in South Wales wouldn't or couldn't sort it out and Honda UK was no better. Worrying re Honda, bought a used Honda from a main dealer not long ago unseen, a long-long way from my home believing the Honda quality promise - not a bit of it, in a filthy caked condition, on wheels and underneath and a front tyre advisory!!! Wrote to Honda not mentioning dealer and their company legal blurb was usual rubbish! Dealer to be fair did put hand in pocket and pay for everything but totally rubbished the Honda service status in my mind! The true Honda bit, the bike, perfection!

I do get a kick out listening to the reviews that come from across the pound when the reviewer calls the bike out as heavy. No disrespect I understand us Americans with our pig Iron have owned three H-D touring bikes and goldwing and they are big heavy turds. Have had many bikes. This Honda looks like a great every day bike that would preform well in the black hills or the smokies. To my kindred across the pound I go to the smokies every year and I've only been to black hills 6 times. Yep no fun at all. Rubber side down 😅
