Had my NT1100 manual with quick shifter for 2 years now from new and 23,000 miles on the clock. Have never noticed engine heat??? Even in Spain at 30°C. Moved the screen once as it was hot, but ended up with hot air blasting me, which was worse, so put it back to top were it has stayed to this day. Always fill up at the end of the day ready for next day don't notice fuel weight even when on switch backs in the Alps and Dolomites. I've had fuel gauge on 225 miles without reserve coming on, last bar in grey is not reserve when last bar goes red is reserve then it comes up with 35 miles to go. I believe indicators reflect on side deflector but i done look at them? I'm 6 foot 2 and 95kg and find the bike perfect like you with 20mm risers (barkbusters single mount just fit with risers! I do go out in single °C figures and usually still have summer gloves on). I had new steering head bearings fitted at 14,000 and TFT replaced as recall. Rear Road Pilot 6 last about 8,000 fronts about 11,000 and i average 57 mpg. I've found that urban mode suits me best, but in user i have same power setting and maximum engine breaking to keep me off brakes. Snatchy throttle usually means chain needs a little adjust, its not perfect but 80% better. Keep up the good work.

Great feedback cheers! I guess I feel the heat more being used to 10 degrees most of the time, so it is welcome. I agree it improves with chain adjustment, at least for a while. But I’m happy inRain mode in town. It’s the same power, just delivered more gently. It still goes when I open the throttle. On the highway I use tour, or one of my User modes, as you suggest. I love the engine best. 👍

A nice review on a very good motorcycle. I have owned mine for 18 months and have a slightly different experience with the engine temperature. I have done two European tours in that time and can honestly say I have never noticed any heat so I wonder why the different experience and I can confirm the bike has loads of poke on the autobahn 🤣🤣🤣 I came from VFR 1200X and can say the bike feels light and easy and not top heavy, but then it would coming from tha monster 🤣🤣🤣 As you can tell, I love the bike.

Great to have different perspectives. I was just thinking about my old Africa Twin, compared to the NT. The NT is less top heavy, not least due to its smaller wheels and is definitely more manageable. Only with a full tank on our sloping driveway has it been noticeable, so I agree. But the heat is something I do notice. More so than my Africa Twin. Maybe it's all the foot guards etc. or because mine is a manual I tend to rev it more than the DCT of my old AT. I just love the engine. However it's a bonus here most of the time, keeps me warm. Good to compare notes, thanks for watching/commenting.

@@CodgerBiker I am going to be hyper sensitive with the engine heat on next NT ride and will no doubt curse you when I do 🤣🤣🤣 I have never ridden the AT but have heard they are more top heavy than the NT. I do love the looks of the AT but really want a purely road focused bike and think the latest update to the NT in blue is stunning with Honda adding some worthwhile changes. I do enjoy your videos Codger 👍

Ha ha! Sorry about that. I blame the guy in Portugal who asked me. Thanks for watching/commenting. I enjoy the whole thing. Glad it is of use to someone. 👍👍

Very similar experience, including having a VFR1200X previously. I've done 3 Europen Tours this year and never noticed excessive heat (mid thirties Celsius in Italy and Switzerland). After 10,000 miles in 12 months (3 of which it was garages over winter) I am very happy with all aspects of the bike and looking forward to seeing 50,000 miles on the odometer.

Thoroughly enjoyed that ride along with you, thank you..! Nothing to prove, no strong opinions or language. Just like the majority of the rest of us, really. Regarding the bike, it's exactly the sort of ownership journey that is true to life. A few tweaks here, and there fiddle there, but nothing is ideal and it's less about having what we want, more about wanting what we have that is the key. Nice one.

Love my nt1100 DCT. Only downside is the connectivity with apple car play. When the phone signal drops out, it will not reconnect unless you turn everything off and on again. Just returned from a trip to Spain, and there were times it let me down when I needed it to work. Good job I have a Garmin Zumo xt . Other than the car play issues, the bike is fantastic.

Good point. I did lose signal out on a mountain pass in the Lakes. As it was obvious where to go it wasn't a problem. I can see it would be more problematic out in the wilds. I have 3 different nav apps I use: Sygic, Waze, Google Maps. I think they download an offline map. I'll give it a try if I lose signal again, maybe one will work. Good point 👍

Hi bought my nt1100 a month ago done 750miles on it had first service. Things I've found standard seat was awful bought comfort seat transformed it . Had major issues with snatchy throttle tried rain mode but it's as flat as a fart so have used user mode and changed some settings which has helped but not perfect haven't figured out how to turn engine braking down in user mode yet . Have had no issues with engine heat but have had issues with stock dunlop's tyres have had three rear step outs on it in the dry think I'm going to put Michelins on it heard a lot of good things about them before it throws me down the road . Enjoying the rest of the bike its brilliant two up and the engine is a Corker just need to calm the snatchy throttle down a bit more.

I think the engine is the best part of it. I think (don't quote me) I could change engine breaking in User Mode if it had the right display type, but I might be misremembering. It's a great tourer. 👍👍

I can see that you changed the right side mirror for what seems a ram mount mirror? Thanks for an entertaining overview of your bike. I just got the 2024 version in blue jeans matte. I am starting to like it a lot after 1800 Kms.

Well spotted. Temporary as easy to fold away when stroring the bike. Enjoy! Thanks for watching/commenting 👍

Tank range on my NT ... over the course of a trip from Essex to Cornwall and back for a quick break ... 700 miles of motorway and A roads + 184 miles of ripping about on Cornish coastal roads ... 248 miles to a tank (calculated from trip over all fuel consumption as shown on the bikes dash).

Hello from Spain, you don't have the Quck-shifter assembled? I mounted it on mine which is also manual and works very well. Hello from Spain, you don't have the Quck-shifter assembled? I mounted it on mine which is also manual and works very well.

I was interested in the route up the motorway to the lakes, I plan on doing this route next year from the midlands to Windermere, unfortunately, I don't own a honda nt1100....
@CodgerBiker14 күн бұрын
It’s straightforward from here, Merseyside. I know the Midlands as have family in Walsall. The M6 is the M6. It gradually gets less busy the further North you go, beyond Preston it empties out. The roads to Windermere are also straight forward. I’d highly recommend it. I did put up a video about the day here if you haven’t seen it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGbVlH5tf5itjposi=0d7AWzBo6uWvkUVN

Remap the ecu and the temperature will go down drastically, don’t know if it’s available for this engine. Factory setting is very lean on modern engines, you know why…

That's a good point. There is a remapping place near me. I could ask them, but will wait until warranty expires I think. 👍👍
