Heya, I just did the job and thank you a 1000 times for your video. Maybe I can add something: I came up with an easier idea to get to the cover of the front cylinder. I drained the coolant and disassembled the thermostat. It’s just 4 tubes, the sensor and the screw on the frame. Then just loosen the carburettor and remove the thermostat and there you go. No heat shield, no radiator and the carburettor just needs to be wiggled loose. Two important things are to put some cloth between the thermostat and the cylinder cover to prevent scratches. And not to twist the wire of the sensor while removing. Maybe someone finds that easier.

Thank you, was of great help along my manual. Took me a while to understand that not every matching mark means compression stroke :D
@meoffjack4 жыл бұрын
4-stroke engines have always two top dead center positions and two bottom dead center positions. The crankshaft rotates two times for one complete working cycle and one rotation of the camshaft. The two top dead center positions are power stroke (all valves closed, ignition of the mixture) and the exhaust stroke (valve overlapping) where all valves are open to get most of the combustion gas out and for better filling of the cylinder.

Danke!
@meoffjack4 жыл бұрын

I was looking at buying one of these but what a pain to get to DOHC with shims set and forget for me.
@meoffjack3 жыл бұрын
NTV doesn't have DOHC nor Shims. Just one camshaft for each cylinder and set screws to adjust the valve play. Easy peasy.

@meoffjack6 жыл бұрын

@meoffjack3 жыл бұрын

Your technique for measuring the rocker clearance isn’t good. Slide the gauge lengthways adjusting so it is lightly pinching then carefully tighten lockout, and always use a ring spanner on the lock nut.
