Well done sir! I have several lights out in my dash, but today when the D light no longer lit, I decided enough was enough. Now I just have to research which bulbs to buy before taking everything apart. Thanks so much. You have produced a very professional piece here!

the man working the HONDA parts desk told me the bulbs are made to last 10 years ... If you are going to take the dash apart to replace one bulb ... Replace all of the bulbs !

Thanks for the excellent video! I replaced the 'D' bulb and various others that were out. One thing to add that may help others - If those metal tabs that hold the board to the back of the cluster are not completely pulled through and and folded over, you may get light "bleed" into other areas from the general illumination bulbs. A small sliver of my turn signal indicators were illuminated when they shouldn't have been. I had to go back in and make sure the tabs were pulled all the way out and down. Thanks Again!
@RealWorld6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the post and glad to be of help!:) Great point regarding the metal tabs!:) I had another light go out and plan to get back into it (again):).

I was struggling with figuring out where all this light bleed was coming from, so ty for this. I have the same problem where I could see my turn signal indicators and I was flummoxed on where the install went wrong.
@miguelestrada30187 ай бұрын
I folded the metal tabs but still getting light bleeding on icons. Any fix?
@bluelightsavings7 ай бұрын
@@miguelestrada3018 you need to make sure to pull the tabs more tightly. I used needle nose pliers to do that prior to folding the metal tabs

+psydoc27 GREAT to hear and glad to help!:) My van is running great, and the dash light is running strong:). I have another video on how to repair the side windows as well. I thought the motor was going out and decided to conduct some additional research. I discovered the relay has a poor design, so I leverage a landscape light bulb to act as the relay ... sounds really strange it is works great!:) If you ever have an issue with the side windows, take a look at the other video ... it might help.

I was able to replace the light bulb for D but then my mileage light went out after, when I turn on the car the D icon turns on then turns off. Also I can see other light icons on barely but not completely lit up did I pull too hard on the chip board that caused that? I didn’t disconnect the battery either while doing the work.
@RealWorld6 ай бұрын
Interesting and nice work getting the bulb replaced!:) No need to disconnect the battery. Sounds like you are getting power to the board which is good, however the other bulbs are not getting enough power. Do you have the right replacement bulb? And you might consider checking all connections as something might be loose. Nonetheless, nice job getting to this point!:)

Can't seem to get the first panel off, but I can hear one pin pop. I have tried both the pry tool and the pulling, and I got one of them to pop by pulling. Do you have any tips to remove the panel? Also, what would go in that slot is the fog light switch I think; when I removed the cover, the bottom said "FOG" on it.
@RealWorld5 жыл бұрын
Curious to know if you got the panel off since a few days have passed:). It can be tricky but doable ... keep at it and it will pop (no special tips to give:)). Not certain about the FOG label but might think the same.

Lemme tell ya what - you have a nice video here, my friend. I had that cluster out since I had installed a righteous double-DIN navigation-radio and I wanted to nail that stupid clock lamp. So fixing that D light just made sense. But how to get the back of the cluster off? I had the factory manual, and all it said was "see cluster disassembly procedure on page 14-20." Well, it showed how to get the cluster out - but the rest of the page was blank! You fixed that. Thanks!

I was thinking about replacing all the dashboard lights with color led lights, do you know how many and what size I would need? 2002 odyssey. thanks :)
@RealWorld6 жыл бұрын
I like the customization of different colored lights:). Not certain of the number nor the size. It's not too bad to open up the dash though. Would be nice if you have a store nearby to get the bulbs:). Radio Shack was the go-to place but they closed so now I go online which takes time to ship.

Yes, I am thinking I will order online as well. But first I will have to find out how many and what sizes. I am wanting to do the entire dash, radio area, etc.. I really like that look. Thanks for the response and info. Cheers

so I replace the clock light and successfully did replace it but it did not light up what do you think it could be I checked the fuses fuses were fine but the clock light will not illuminate I'm stuck what next?
@RealWorld7 жыл бұрын
Hello Bryan - to confirm ... you replaced the clock light and not a light to the shift column? I replaced the clock light as well which wasn't too bad. If you replaced it and no light, I would get back into the light and check connectivity. If all looks good, replace the bulb again with known good working bulb and check for light before reassembly. Hopefully, you get light:). If not, check continuity of the bulb (ensure you have a good wire) ... check BEFORE you place the bulb and AFTER (providing you do not get light). If you have continuity before but not after, you will know something is blowing the bulb. If you have continuity before and after, check to ensure power is getting to the bulb assembly ... follow the power back to the fuse box. Hopefully, you will find the issue along the way:).
@lennex047 жыл бұрын
it works! I checked the connection of the bulb and was not connected properly. thank u once again. question! what do u think of replacing bulbs with led light bulbs
@RealWorld7 жыл бұрын
GREAT to hear!:) You could definitely replace with led bulbs which would offer a longer life and various colors. The standard bulbs seem to last relatively long considering I have only needed to jump into the dash a couple of times over the last 15yrs:).
