Wow I am very happy to have found this great channel! Amazing your Passport Eric! I have a full 1999 Rodeo LSE with only 99,400 miles, but here in Argentina there are very few. It is a fantastic vehicle, which sold well in the 90's imported from your country, exactly Lafayette, Indiana, both the first and the second generation, but more Isuzu Pick were sold, imported from Japan (in a smaller number Trooper) since it is a stronger pick-up market, due to the country's harsh geography. I live in Patagonia, and the weather conditions are harsh (cold winters near the Andes, or extreme heat in desert areas (creating a great thermal range in some regions), perhaps the heat is similar to that in California. ! Isuzu's problem was that in 2001 he left our country due to the economic crisis, luckily he returned a few years ago, but now it is not competitive compared to the giant Toyota (it covered the entire market), since now Isuzu vehicles They are more expensive, due to the incredible import taxes that this country applies to all extra-zone vehicles (Toyota manufactures the Hilux and SW4 in our country, reducing costs to be able to access the purchase, and cars, such as the Corolla or the low Etios cost, they come from Brazil, a country with which we have a commercial agreement, thus lowering the costs to acquire their products. I wish you were close to do off road expeditions! a pity that here do not have friends with 4x4 to enjoy these adventures. If you come to Patagonia, try my Rodeo! and then savor the best meat in the world, the Argentine barbecue! successes with your great channel!

Thanks for the video! I had a '93 Trooper years back, and now have a '02 Rodeo 5spd 4wd.l and only 74K(old lady had since new) and Silver, like yours. I don't have fog lights either, or power mirrors. I am doing a 2" lift since I can't source a bent rear link. The owner of Darlington offroad passed away, and classic country overland doesn't make them. I'm going to borrow some of your ideas for the roof rack. Thank you for the good ideas!

Thank you! Overall, this probably would be put in the "Budget Build" category. Not including the purchase of the truck, for the suspension/wheels tires, there is about $1,600 in it. This thing has past 200k miles and is still running running strong! I bought it with 170k on the clock. I believe it to be a highly underrated vehicle. Thanks for watching!

Love your Honduzu ! Quick question, so I just got a 95 Honda Passport and the brake light goes on & off occasionally. As well as sometimes the check trans light flashes but there's nothing wrong with the shifting... Everything is stock so I was wondering if you know what could be causing that. Thanks!
@GridLineGo
@GridLineGo 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It could be a few things for both issues. Maybe start by checking the brake fluid level. The level can cause the light to come on and off again. With the trans, I recommend the same. Check the fluid level first and see if that helps

Is this SUV pretty reliable for heavy driving use? I heard the transmission is very weak or would it last with the proper transmission fluid change? Great video!
@GridLineGo
@GridLineGo 4 жыл бұрын
What would you consider heavy driving? The transmission typically is the weak link, especially if it has been neglected. With proper maintenance, it should be fine. I have 200k on mine (I don't know if it's been rebuilt in the past, I bought it at 160k) and I've neglected the level multiple times before. I've really driven the hell out if it with heavy loads with hills and mountains, from hard offroading to smashing at higher speeds in the dirt. It kicks sometimes and I correct the level, then it shifts like butter. The overall vehicle, absolutely underrated vehicle. It really is amazing! Thank you so much for watching! 😁👍

When I went looking for it online, it was not easy. The closest name for it I found was an "airfoil" it's designed to direct air down the back window to prevent dirt and dust from building up on the glass. Luckily I came across one in the junk yard and snagged it. Best of luck! Thanks for watching 😁

This is their Slimline II Rack. They don't sell them made for this vehicle unfortunately. I started by getting one off Craigslist and extended it later on to fit the full length of the roof. The current dimensions are: Total - 46W x 77L 2 end slates + 8 slates. 10 total. 20.5" + 52.25" for each side. 10-20mm feet 1800mm track

Seems like a 4Runner is a better base to start with?
@GridLineGo
@GridLineGo 5 жыл бұрын
I honestly believe the 4R and Passport/Rodeo could equally compete in a stock form. Aftermarket wise, 4R has more backing, but they are so much more expensive, parts too. I bought mine for $1k. To this day, truck INCLUDED, I've spent less than $5k on it (not including any repairs/just mods) The Passport/Rodeo is so overlooked and highly underrated, especially if you're not wanting to fork out a ton of money to buy and mod a camping/offroad SUV. -Eric

@@GridLineGo Makes sense. I'm just in the learning stages and doing some casual research for fun. I bought a 2007 4Runner recently that's in overall great shape (bought for $6200). Mostly using as a winter vehicle to keep my other out of the winter, a good vehicle for the dogs, and also got it for towing potential for my motorcycles. But I am possibly interested in doing more outdoor/offroad mods to it over time. I'd probably start pretty simple with Tacoma TRD shocks, Method Standard wheels, Goodyear Duratrac tires and eventually Tundra brakes when they're needed. I don't see myself doing absolutely crazy offroading for a while.
