I just discovered these bikes today in April of 2024 and I want one so badly now. It is THE perfect blend for old guys like me who love big bikes and scooters alike.

@@i94yeh2p exactly! The purpose of these events is to practice street skills at faster speeds than a parking lot, not hit top speeds or bang out fast lap times. The PC is competent, even on the track, but it’s not fast either! 🤣

This is the intelligence behind two of my favorite sayings: There are Old Pilots, and Bold Pilots, But NO OLD Bold Pilots, and Chrome won;'t help you if you can't ride. Flat landers, feet forward riders, and newbies, generally havent got the chops for anything out of the ordinary that can and will happen. Getting these skills, and learning defensive driving ( for 2 wheels) will save your life.

Thanks for sharing your track day with us. I think I'd enjoy a non-sportbike track day too. I'll have to see where they're held nearby. Also, I'm glad to see you tried it on the PC800. I have one too. It probably wouldn't have been my 1st choice of bikes, but "why not?".

Hi Justin, I really enjoy your videos. I got a question for you as a PC800 rider. I'm going for my Motorcycle permit and eventually my license. I am also 6ft and 300+ pounds but currently losing weight. What is your opinion on a PC800 for a first bike for someone my size?
@knerdrider3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I usually recommend a naked bike for new riders. That way, if/when you drop it, there’s no bodywork to break and replace. This is an even bigger concern with the PC800, since the plastic is old, brittle, and very difficult to find replacements for. Especially mirrors, which are the first thing to hit the ground. I’d say start on a midsize naked bike, and once you get a good feel for riding the PC800 would be a great step up. It’s easy to ride, particularly for its weight.

Justin, about 12:39 I am seeing about 85 indicated at 7200 rpm.. is there another gear to go ( eg 4th gear and wound up ? )
@knerdrider4 жыл бұрын
Capt Larry - yes, I could shift into 5th, but then I’d have to shift back to 4th immediately for the turn. There were laps where I eased off the throttle at the end of the straightaway so I wouldn’t redline it.

What's the top speed for the P C 800
@knerdrider2 жыл бұрын
I touched 95 before I had to slow down for the next turn. It had a little left but not much, so I’d guess 100-105. Stock gearing, not the popular VT1100 final drive swap.

nice looking bike, but its apparently not made to drive fast with it. that track ride looks slow and a bit boring. that bike is i think made for cruising at speeds like 70mph. is that a casio watch betweeen the odometer and the right mirrow, or what is that ?
@knerdrider2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it’s not a fast bike at all. I topped out around 95 on that long straight before braking for the next turn. It had a little left but not much. And yes, that’s a watch the previous owner stuck to the dashboard where a speaker went in earlier models. It never worked while I owned the bike!

I wanted to hear the engine(s). The music was annoying and distracting. There is a difference between making a video for yourself (music on) and KZbin (music off). Besides the obvious “it is a matter of opinion”. But seriously, I am disappointed. Can I say that? Yes. I am. Really wanted to hear the PC rumble.
@knerdrider2 жыл бұрын
Have you ever heard a PC800 at highway speed? It’s so quiet you can’t hear the engine over the wind noise. If I wasn’t using my noise canceling Bluetooth mic, all you would’ve heard was wind noise, and probably complained about that as well.

That is an oxymoron. PC800 and Track Days. That 2 cyl touring bike barely made enough power to get out of its own way. But hey, everyone has their fantasies. My first pass, at 40 mph, too freakin funny. Then he gets passed by a 125 cc dirt bike. OMFG, this is hilarious stuff, NOT.
@knerdrider Жыл бұрын
Clearly you’ve missed the point of all this, which is to become a better rider, not to get the fastest lap time, which I agree is something a PC800 will never do. 😊

Wondering why the mirrors are covered up?
@knerdrider2 ай бұрын
@@stryker819 track day rules, mirrors must be removed or covered. This forces riders to focus only on what’s ahead of them instead of getting distracted by overtaking riders. It is 100% the responsibility of the faster rider to make a safe pass, knowing the slower rider can’t see them coming.
