Honda PCX - How to remove rear wheel, brake drum and shoes

I'm a complete amateur and this is the first time i have done this so constructive criticism is welcome. I have not touched the brakes in the 3 years i had this bike since new, the rear shoes were gone but the front were fine. Need to change my riding style!!

Hi, I am a 43 years young lady. I watched your video and decided to change my PCX 150 rare tire myself. I was actually able to change the tire successfully and in most part I did the job all by myself. It wasn't easy but I finished it. Change the filter and oil as well the same time. To ALL viewers... One thing that is important but which this man did not (seem to) choose to do: After cleaning the brake components, carefully apply heat-resistant grease (I use Suzuki's Super Grease Type A) to the lobe/cam which opens the brake shoes forcing them against the inner walls of the drum (wheel). If you do, you will get a smooth return (the brakes go back to the 'off' position) when you release the brake lever. I have not done this on my PCX yet, but have done it on my other scoot, on which it seems to be necessary about every 5,000 kilometres. Happy trails!

As well as lube on the cam that opens the shoes, put some copper grease on all the bolts before replacing them - much easier to remove them next time. If that was your first go you did a good job and saved yourself some cash as well as learning about your bike. Nice one...

Thank you for the video!! I got a flat and the tire shop wants $65 just to put on the new tire I bought from them, or free if I can just bring in the wheel. So thank you for helping me save $65 from these blood sucking mechanics!!! $120 just for a new rear tire here in Guam!! Island life. Cant wait to get back to the States!!!

the way I get those tight axel nuts to move is to put the handle of the wrench into a 2.5 ft piece of pipe. The extra leverage does the trick.

Best to get someone else to sit in the bike and hold the rear brake on. Use a breaker bar. Should work fine. Don't ruin a ratchet!

How do you know it needs replacing? How do you check?

When I took the rear tire Bolt off of my PCX. instead of using a impact gun to take that bolt off . I used a ratchet and a rubber mallet. and Hit the ratchet lever with the rubber mallet. (it came off relativity quickly). That bolt needs short bursts of pressure instead of applying pressure on the ratchet long and hard. ( I don't have a impact gun , and don't feel like buying one. at the moment. so that Is why I did what i did.

Don't use a ratchet for high impact work like that. I've seen them disintegrate. A breaker bar is accurately named for just that job.
