Honda Pilot Air Conditioning Diagnosis and Fix

Honda Pilot with a 3.5 that had an air conditioning issue. It would not blow cold according to the customer. I performed a diagnosis on it and found out that the issue was the compressor. So, I am showing how to replace, refill, and check that the new compressor is good.

Here’s hoping you may still check these messages. This is about as informative as I’ve been able to find. What were the symptoms other than blowing hot air? My wife has an ‘05 Pilot, AC started blowing hot. Low side jumps to around 80 when condenser kicks on. From what I can hear, compressor kicks on, airflow increases. Just hot air. I have checked the relays and fuses. All seem to be fine. I didn’t check the clutch. That’s all I can think of. Unless you know of another reason why the ac blows hot, with high pressure low side, and all equipment seems to kick on. Thanks in advance

If it is at 80, that is a little high in my opinion. What is the outside air temp when checking? You may have to much freon in it and that will cause it to not blow cold as well.

@@tubsmctubbifer8579 your welcome and I would get the pressure around the 40 to 50 range on the low side and the high side should be about 4 times what the low side reads.

Yes, it only 4 oz of pag 46. The entire bottle will be to much. If you have any other questions feel free to ask as well.

Why does my AC compressor kick off after about 10 seconds? I can turn it off and back on but then it does the same thing. Turns off after about 10 seconds. Pressure is where it’s spose to be. I’m stumped. Clutch engages

You could have a pressure switch going bad.

My 2006 Honda pilot blow hot air in the drivers area but in the rear passenger area it blows cold. What could be the issue

I would check the heater control valve on the firewall of the car to make sure that it is moving to start out. That controls the heat coming into the car and if it is broke or the cable is broke and it is stuck on hot then that could be your issue. Have someone move the temperature settings from hot and cold to see if the valve moves or not.

11:40 No power to it? But you only supply DC +, but don't connect the ground wire, or am I not seeing it? Is it grounded via the housing?

The wiring diagram shows it grounding through the housing.
