At 1.32 she shows using a forked prying tool to remove the plastic retaining SCREWS for the air intake. How many times do you think you push/pull plastic screws before you strip them? While this is hardly the most convenient battery location, this was actually really easy to do. Didn't really take much if any longer than other batteries I've done in the past. Heck, my KIA Optima's battery is in the trunk and you have to remove a little panel to get to it. My Honda Insight's battery is inside the car inside the flying console between the driver and passenger seats. And like someone else said, you can always clip the negative to any metal in the engine compartment to jump or test with.

At least she told me where the battery is located. Who would’ve thunk it was in the engine bay. 😂 actually entertaining myself watching the videos on KZbin since I will doing it in a few days. She also didn’t remove the entire battery box and associated connectors.

Do you need a battery memory saver for the late model Pilot's???
@TheBatteryShop2 жыл бұрын
Hi - Thanks for watching! We don't have that information here in the studio, so we recommend that you check a service/repair manual for the vehicle to be sure. We use memory saving on the vehicle's we work on as a precaution unless a service manual says not to.

I just replaced the battery on a 2019 Pilot Elite. I did not use a memory saver and all of my radio station and seat location presets were still saved after the changeout.

Hi, This is a great and very informational video for DIY'ers. Question for you, for newer model Pilot with idle-stop feature, does it require a different type of battery? I used to have a Toyota Highlander and it used a different type of battery due to idle-stop feature of the engine. And that special battery is significantly more expensive than the regular battery. So I wonder if Pilot now also requires a different type of battery, possibly not available at Costco. Can you please let me know? Thank you!

Hi - Thanks for watching! According to BCI 2016-2020 Honda Pilots require a Group 48 battery. However the 2018-2020 Elite, Touring and TRG models as well as the 2016-2017 Elite and Touring models require an AGM style battery.

The AGM battery Group 48 (H6) is available at Costco. I just purchased a replacement one for a 2019 Pilot Elite with idle stop.

Hi - Thanks for watching! This was actually the first time the young lady did this (with a lot of coaching from the film crew). We find that worn battery cable connectors can cause a loose fit. The cable usually has to be replaced. There are replacement cable clamps available, but they are supposed to be temporary replacements only.

What happens if you don't have a memory saver,can you still replace the battery without a memory saver?
@TheBatteryShop Жыл бұрын
Hi - Thanks for watching! When the battery is disconnected without a memory saver several vehicle systems may l have to be reset. We suggest that you check the vehicle owner's manual or a service repair manual for the vehicle to see what systems, if any, would be affected and the tools and procedures required for any required resets.
