I hate to say it, but some guys really do have the need to prove their manhood by driving a "Real" truck that they probably don't really need while bashing and hating on the Ridgeline! My experience with this vehicle has been nothing but great! Is not just an AWD system but a torque vectoring system just like the SH-AWD on Acura vehicles and it's outstanding! It's quiet, great fuel economy and incredibly comfortable and spacious inside. In the end, remember that it's a free country and you can purchase whatever vehicle works for you.

I used my full size truck for several years as a truck on a daily basis, as the years went on and jobs changed I found myself driving that huge truck for no dang reason, other than its paid for so I'll keep driving it because I'm not making a car payment. Times changed, fuel prices went up, jobs changed, no longer need the truck at all, and it sat in the driveway most of the time. So I finally sold it and downsized. Sure I'd like to have a truck again, they're far more comfortable on long drives, but I don't haul/tow like I used to do so no point in having a huge full size truck...what I do occasionally haul/tow I can do with my Jeep anyways, and the Jeep is a heck of a lot easier to maneuver around town and parking lots than my F350 crew cab long bed 4x4 pickup was LOL. Do I miss my truck? Yes, and no. I miss it because it sat up higher and easier to see around and over the top of many other vehicles on the road to more easily see stuff going on up the road in front of me. I don't miss the low fuel economy, and the added maintenance costs for sure. I still have 4WD's and glad I do because the AWD in today's crossovers...err cars with a slight lift and AWD wouldn't have made it in and out of my driveway a couple winters ago in the 2+ feet of snow we had LOL. Ground clearance is a huge limiting factor in the deep stuff many owners of these types of vehicles quickly found that out that winter you needed a truck with some ground clearance and 4WD to get around. I don't really need 4WD most of the time, but in those few instances I do need it, it pays for itself over and over again and the very small additional cost of maintenance and economy loss isn't even really measurable...especially when you do the maintenance yourself, and that only has to be done maybe once a year at the most. One of my neighbors had a Ridgeline, pretty nice looking vehicle, can't really call them a truck? What's the registration say, I'm curious. Do they register as a truck or a carry all...AKA SUV? She loved her Ridgeline, and bought a newer one after she had put well over 200k on her old one.

Nice video. I love my 2014 Ridgeline, it does exactly what I need it to do. One of the big selling points for me was the lockable trunk. I can haul my firearms, ammo, clays, cooler in the trunk and still have room in the bed for dirt bikes, chairs, tables. This leaves a ton of room inside the cab for 4 passengers or overnight gear. Best part is even without the stuff in the bed I can leave my firearms in the trunk and no one will mess with them, while I stop and grab a bite to eat.

I typically won't drive in inclement weather unless it's an emergency but I got caught in some snow coming back from a long road trip a few days ago. The only route home was over a mountain pass at about 7,000 feet and it started snowing rather heavily during my ascent. By the time I reached the peak, it was coming down hard and beginning to stick. I made it home though (another 30 miles) thanks to the Ridgeline's AWD system. Mine is a 2020 model but I think the only difference over yours is I have the upgraded 9-speed transmission. That was the first I've ever driven in the snow with this vehicle and I have to say the way it handled the snow so confidently helped calm my nerves a great deal. I also agree with you when you mentioned how it handles the slushy thick stuff you get into when changing lanes. I felt it, but it wasn't the white-knuckle experience I felt in previous vehicles, especially other pickup trucks I've owned. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the video. I was going to trade my 2014 Corolla in on a suv because my family needs a little more room. I had a full size Silverado before the Corolla and didn’t really care for it. After some thought I think the Ridgeline would check more boxes for us. After my friends seemingly unbelievable ability to clear the course the instructor asked where he learned to drive that way. My friend replied,” in northern Michigan we tend to drive sideways 9mo out of the year”! The instructor told him they would make a few more passes after class dismisses!🤣😂🤣

Ha! Acura is owned by Honda, so it's not about catching up, it's about making the tech affordable enough to put into the Honda. All features and tech begins life in the luxury segment, because it's too expensive. The high line cars have had lane keeping, backup cross traffic, keyless entry and start, basically everything that's NOW in Honda since the mid 2000's

The interior is really nice, too bad all the truck people hate on this truck/minivan. I was cross shopping the RT-LE and Tacoma off-road. I ended up with a off road because of the 6 speed MT. If I weren't in my twenties, I would have gotten the ridgeline. They need to make the front end more aggressive and less Odyssey/Pilot.

I'm currently driving a 2015 F150 and it has it's problems. I plan on getting me a Ridgeline to replace it with. Honda should be able to tow a two-horse just fine, which is about the most I'd do with it.

It is pretty big, I have a hard time fitting in some parking lots. Funny that you say that you get strange looks in the city, I live in a Boston suburb full of Volvos, Mercedes, BMWs and Priuses and I get the same looks. You can keep all those cars, I'll keep my truck. If you drive on snowy roads you want AWD, not 4WD. I had a Tacoma and the back end would fish tail on snowy roads in 4WD.

He said AWD kicked in when he looses traction. I got a 2014 and it's FWD over 25mph. The traction control controls the brakes, and gas peddle. And I imagine those new settings for snow, mud, rain on the 2017 just control gas peddle and brakes. Now the VTM-4 on mine controls the AWD. Nissan Skyline AWD was the same way. It locked the front wheels up to a certain speed and went to RWD. But The Nissan GTR is RWD most the time, except on take off. Their not true AWD. Mitsubishi made all time all wheel drive, Subaru, Porsche. I call the Ridgeline, Juke, Nissan GT, Auto 4x4. That's what it is.

Who tests an all wheel drive for snow conditions on flat ground? I'm interested in the Ridgeline, but would like to be able to get up my long, steep, snow covered driveway. Do I end up sideways? Do I have to walk up and carry all my gear? Do I have a hard time getting back down? Do I need studded snows? Chains? At some point, people need to stop giving the Ridgeline a pass on truck tasks. How would it do after a 24" blizzard?

Where is the snow storm? Are you alright. I don't see much snow. I live in the North East Mass area. That's a dusting around here. I know your not in VTM you can't go over 18 mph when your in it. The Honda should handle well. There's very little snow.

Lol what snow???? I live the Canadian province of Quebec...I have a Ridgeline and you don't have a clue what you're taking about.... get real...unless you deal with 6 to 10 inch of snow you should keep your little comments about winter driving to yourself...the Ridgeline is doing great and no amount of your sudo evaluation is...even if it's positive , can really account for real winter driving. I have really nothing negative to say about the truck except for the LKA, radar and cruise control that work like crap when it's snowing, freezing rain...they just fail.... other than that it's a great truck.

Yeah your gonna get good mpg when you have a 3000 lbs plastic “truck” and a engine the size of a lawnmower. My powerstroke gets 19-21 mpg on the eco mode and it can still hall as much as a dump truck! If I wanted a smooth ride I would by a prius.

@ellenorbjornsdottir1166 6 жыл бұрын
tim pike Live with the facts: your permasnow truck is less durable at low speed, handles worse and rides worse than a Honda Ridgeline with an automatic. Sure, your dump truck might haul better, but do you really need that? Ridgeline is more of a 1/4 ton midsize. Drive one someday. I know I will.
