S2000s are extremely reliable if property maintained. To your point when buying a S2000 do a refresh all key fluids (motor oil, transmission fluid, diff fluids, brake fluid and clutch). What happened with this car's master clylinder was directly caused by lack of maintenance. You can tell as the clutch fluid was completely black. Enjoy the car and glad you got this resolved. Like Billman said, it's a good practice to just change the clutch fluid with a turkey baster frequently. I do it every other oil change, or 5K miles. .

You got it 💪🏼 doing exactly that. Next on the list is trans then diff. Thanks for the reassurance, glad I don’t have to rush out to change the master cylinder just yet

Nice job with the video review! About to do the same actually! Just FYI your comment about the “Miata outperforming the S2K in every way” couldn’t be further from the truth! Total opposite. The 20 year old S2K outperforms the Miata in every way! Also if you are six foot tall like me you know very well that the Miata is VERY uncomfortable and cramped inside! S2K for the win! Enjoy your new ride!

My 2006 S2000 has been bulletproof for 10 years of ownership now. I do follow the maintenance checklist just as the first owner did. I expect I'll have to do the TCT eventually but no problems yet at 37k miles.

Billman is the S2K god, he has worked on my car in person, and he knows our cars in and out. Also, have fun with your s2k as well and I hope she gets more TLC from you moving forward. And I am happy you got most of the issues out so you will be having more fun driving in the future.

Congratulations on your S! I feel like you’re another version of me in Vegas lol. Same age and working in medicine, a new born, and having appreciation for cars. Have my S2k for 2 years now as an occasional toy. Whenever I drive the S, I feel a sense of freedom. A break from all daily’s and life’s responsibilities, and just being a guy enjoying in a little fun car driving endless roads, living what I couldn’t do during high school. S2000 values are something more than meets the eye.

Change your clutch fluid every oil change, I guarentee you by the time you uploaded this video your fluid is black again. My 2000 ap1 had 40k miles on it and there was clay-like material in my slave cylinder so i replaced that with my master and changed the fluid. If your master is leaking and you replaced it, change the slave cylinder too, its not expensive and it is worth it. The best first mod is maintenance!
@onsite_nate6 ай бұрын
definitely seems too good to be true! I’ll see how long this method takes me before it starts giving out again. Maintenance mods are the best, love when the car is another step closer to showroom spec

Looks like your s2k was driven hard by the previous owner. Either way keep it, prices keep going up especially if its intact with all 10vins. Also, if you plan to lower, just add axle spacers and you won't have any issues with axle giving out quickly. Just subbed.
@onsite_nate6 ай бұрын
agreed 🙏🏼 hopefully no more surprises with this thing. Thank you for the sub!

@@onsite_nate Np💯, I plan on getting one hopefully this summer I prefer Ap1 gpw with all red interior but the prices are a bit too much for an Ap1 in general. Might as well get a ap2 since they are fetching for the same price.

For sure... Original owner of an 06 AP2 with 233k miles and nothing but maintenance items in 18yrs. All depends on how it was taken care of. The pricey maintenance items. OEM shocks at 160k, original clutch replaced at 224k, and last month front and upper and lower control arms full assembly at 232k. Pricey, but if you break it down how long the original parts lasted, i couldn't think of using anything else but oem parts.

An amazing vehicle regardless. Used vehicles will always have inherent issues so once repaired by Honda - should be ok for another 3-4 years trouble-free motoring.

Definitely. Have to lower my expectations and at the very least replace all the wear items for a 100k/almost 20yo car. Love it nonetheless 🙏🏼

It looks like those are seat covers. I have them on my s2000. They are made by clazzio. I would take them off and put some cushioning under them and put them back on. Pretty cheap way to put some life back into the car without spending money to reupholster them.
