If you can be proud of anything in this video, it's your ability to describe what you have do done in fabrication and then disarm any potential naysayers that may potentially have something negative to say. I owned an S2000 here in the States back in 2003. I always remember saying out of car audio, but if I was to get back in to it, this car would be awful! That why the high revving engine and VTEC kicking in sounds so good!!!! LOL! I returned to car audio in 2017 when I started helping with Hybrid Audio's Black Betty (their HQ, well was, only 1 hour from my home) and I truly appreciate the little things....like the magnetic charger! Hell I got all giddy too! Just smiling here on this side of the screen! LOL. I'm glad I found your channel!

For any of you other right-hand-drive market people, the JDM cars actually had a navigation unit option that installs basically right there. You can order all the parts necessary from Japan - which includes a mounting cage that screws into existing unused screw mount posts on the inside of the dash, 2 metal mount brackets and screws to mount the navi unit (or a shallow double DIN stereo head unit) into the cage, and then of course the front bezel plastic piece. You will need to be very careful in opening up the dash as the JDM cars which came equipped with it from the factory seem to have had the plastic cut out before the vinyl/foam coating was affixed - such that the bezel actually fit flush with the vinyl outermost layer. As for us Americans with our left-hand-drive cars... our dashboards still have the mounting spots for the cage, but Honda never (to my 20+ years of searching at least) released a navigation unit or anything similar for LHD markets so the best we can do currently is either heat-gun-warp the RHD bezel (which is very curved to fit an RHD dash mind you) and try to fit it to our dash, or just go full custom on the bezel.

Seems like excellent work to me, and awesome fabrication too. That said, wouldn't it have been easier/cheaper to adapt a JDM dashboard since they have them with a navi option (from factory IIRC) ? Doesn't look much different, so kudos to you guys!

you can buy the parts used to mount that navi unit and install them on any RHD dash - just need to cut the hole in the appropriate spot. On the inside of the dashboard, the mounting screw posts for the internal 'cage' are already present - even on LHD market S2000's... we Americans just never got a correctly-shaped LHD front bezel to make it all look factory.

I understand the thought and I’m sure it will look great. But this car’s long term value is now diminished. If anything, I would have tired to conceal anything aftermarket behind covers and keep original components to have the ability to return the car to stock configuration.

I can understand that. It’s not necessarily what I would to if it were my S2000, but I suppose that’s the answer in a nutshell, it isn’t mine. Simons cool, I don’t think he has any plans on its residual value.

@@Studioincar Fair enough! I did happen to see the second part showing the end product. It certainly turned out well! I was a little surprised that carbon fiber trim and steering wheel options weren't involved, but well done! The texture on the dash and door trim is arguably a more elevated appearance over stock form.
