I've been in management for over 20 years. Letting someone go is never easy regardless of the situation. I have just learned it is never personal.

There is a lot more to the story, but it was hard to think of all the details, and some I felt I better leave out. 😆 Glad I built a good story!

I was a warehouse manager years ago. I did not like being in charge. I am the type that likes to do my job and not have to worry about someone else doing their job. I fired 2 people and caused one to quit. He said I was "mean". I was fired one time back in the mid eighties. I was told I was too slow.

I am glad it is something I don’t have to do often. When there is a need for it, though, I have some practice now! 😆 Thanks for commenting, Howard!

Getting let go from a job is not nice but people are fired all of the time at every level. It is a fact of life because if you are working for someone else there of one of two exit plans, voluntarily or involuntarily. Also business owners get fired all of the time by their customers who end their business with them. Nice to see you out on your bike. I got my bike out in April, it was still cold but I took it out anyway.

That is very true! Many times it’s not looked upon at that customer level. Many times in those cases, it is unknown that you were even fired by the customer. You just never see them again. Glad you were able to get out! Hope you can get out again soon!

I’m in HR; I’ve heard some pretty crazy things when someone is trying to cover their tail. My favorite is when they deflect and try to blame someone else for their misdoings. Maybe my most recent situation could be next week’s topic. 🤣

Only fired once where i was wrong . 1st day on the job , didn't know the routine ( refinery construction ) . I forced several hack contractors to fire me , ( residential construction ) because in my state if you quit then you have to wait until payday for your money . If you're fired you must be paid in 24 hrs . I have also fired many many people as a residential foreman . Turnover rate in construction is much higher than in retail . You did what you had to do . Don't beat yourself up over it .

Thank you for sharing your experience. That’s interesting how that works for paying of wage! Firing - It’s not the first, and won’t be the last, but not something that has to happen often at least. Thank you for watching!

I have never been fired or laid off, but I am sure I have come close. For the person that you fired, like you said things happen for a reason, and maybe this happed for a reason for that employee. Making mistakes is, unfortunately, the best way we learn. Thx for the video! Ride safe!!

I would be interested in hearing about this. 1. How did you get into the industry you are in? Is it a franchise, LLC,Inc? 2. How long have you been a business owner? 3. What made you decide to be a business owner?

@@TWOWHEELD I’m just interested in small business stories and how people get there. How they manage their time, stress etc. is it worth the extra stress and loss of time? That kind of thing, I just find it interesting, im trying to find motivation for myself to take the risk. I would like to have my own business and I do have a business degree, but I don’t know what industry I want to be in. All of my experience is in the automotive industry and I’m burnt out in that world.

@eyeballroomer maybe I will have to try to make a video on this while I ride around sometime! Owning your own business has its pros and cons. My father and I own our businesses together, but yet this KZbin channel can also be considered as a business. For me, it’s more of a hobby, but in reality, it is a small business. I grew up around family owned business. I worked for my parents much of my life, but did work for a couple other large corporations for several years. I learned a lot of the ins and outs of business, and what it takes to be a good leader and boss so to say. Working for those other companies taught me how not to lead. As I am writing this out, I realize there is definitely a lot I could talk about here, and it might be best suited for a video. 😆 This particular business I speak of in the video has been owned for almost four years. It does create stress sometimes, because of instances like in the video, but there is also a reward to it when you sit back and look at what you helped build. I honestly never really think about it. I just wake up in the morning, show up and do what is needing to be done. I will see if I can flip a camera on sometime soon on this one!

Yeah I’ve had to fire people before. Sucks. As a business owner it falls to me to do and just gotta get it over with. So my business is professional photography and video production. I’ve done stuff for some major companies like SpaceX and Anheuser, Busch and Michelob beer and so on. I was doing a product promotional video for a company that makes security/anti theft devices for retail stores. This particular new product was an anti theft device for alcohol containers that needs to be unlocked at the register by an employee with a magnet thing. Anyway, this new employee definitely lied about his most basic experience on his resume and interview and I feel bad because he was a nice guy. First he drops a heady duty tripod when we’re unloading the vehicle and a several hundred dollar fluid head on that tripod cracks some of the tension knobs. I’m upset but it’s an accident. He really wasn’t being carful or paying attention so I just talk with him and move on. Next I have him setting up the camera on the tripod while I’m talking with the client about the shortlist and I see him spinning the camera ontop of the tripod to screw it on. Spinning a $10k camera… like how do you. It know to take the plate off the tripod and screw it into the bottom of a camera? You don’t even need a degree for that omg. I I go over and tell him to setup a light and I’ll handle the camera while starting to rethink this hire. Next thing I know he doesn’t call out that he’s turning on a light, blinds everyone with the 1k watt light and he himself trips over it and knocks it over. I push the client out of the way and get hit in the head with this falling light in the process. That’s it. He’s a hazard and a danger and three strikes showed me he definitely lied about his work experience and damaged equipment and put people in danger as well as making my head bleed and burn from the light. So as lightly as I could and doing everything to hide my anger and remain calm and professional i told him this wasn’t going to work and and I’ll give him the gas money, whatever it was at the time per mile, but he wasn’t going to work this job. That’s not the only time I’ve had to let someone go though. I’ve had other times where someone lied about having a vehicle and their ability to get to work. Keep in mind the location is always different depending on the clients location. So having a vehicle is a must and I stated it in bold on the job lead as well. She lied and then demanded k drove to her and pick her up and drop her off every day. I told her she was responsible for her own transportation and the lead she responded to stated that and she did say her transportation wouldn’t be a problems when she was hired. Well then she pulled the gender card and race card and said she’d tell everyone I’m racist and sexist for not having a black woman work. I said that was a clear lie and if she did that I’ve got this message now saved as evidence and I’d see her in court. Then I never heard from her again. I’ve got what feels like too many of these kinds of stories but those were some of the worst ones. 😂

I was just like, WOW, when reading your message! That is insane! Definitely a huge liability in that case! Glad you were able to take care of it as quickly as you could! Your other case is crazy how people will try to threaten certain things. It made me think of how the other day I had someone threaten to contact BBB over something that happened three months ago, with no supporting evidence on their part. I of course researched and found the evidence for my side. 😆 Thank you for watching and definitely for your comment! I visualized all of that happening!

Good afternoon. I have a question for you! Does your bike also steer a little at slow speeds, seeming to dive into a corner like it's oversteering?
@TWOWHEELD
@TWOWHEELD Ай бұрын
I’m not sure if I will effectively answer your question, but I will try. I don’t feel my bike oversteers by any means, but there are variables that will determine how much it dives into a corner. Your speed, your lean, and if you are turning the bars at all. These are all dependent on each other as well. Also, if you are using front brake when turning at slow speeds, it’s a dangerous habit. This will make the front end feel different as well. I only use rear brake at slow speeds to avoid upsetting the balance of the bike by grabbing too much front brake. This Shadow is pretty easy to turn and can turn a pretty tight radius. Hopefully that helps?
