I learned on my dads 1975 CB500T years ago, and the style of this reminds me of that bike so much. I’ll have to add this model Shadow to my list to search for when the time comes. Great review, thanks for sharing!!

My 2010 RS is awesome great little bike, use it all the time it's just really easy to handle no problems going 40 or 80mph. If any body is looking for a bullet proof, low maintenance bike buy one you will NOT regret it

@@faziduke2814 Yes it is but if you have no experience besides the motorcycle training course I would say take this bike out on long country roads to get to know each other! And find an open vacant lot to practice low speed maneuvers!

I just got a 2011 Shadow RS. First cruiser bike, like it so far. I was worried after 3 sport bikes. Not a boring bike by any standard though.

How's the ride on the hwy? Can it comfortable do 75-85 mph? How's the breaking feel? Is gearbox smooth and easy to operate? These are the things I want to know.

1. Highway time on this bike is fairly poor. 2. It is not comfortable at 75-80, if it will even go that fast (remember, most Japanese bikes have at least 10% speedo error). So, if you are showing 80, you really doing about 72. 3. The brakes are fair, but not great. They have a decent feel. 4. Gearbox is smooth, very easy shifts, but there is slack in the driveline. 5. After a few years, the cheap fasteners, plastic components, and fake plastic chrome parts will be seriously showing their age, and begin to deteriorate (sooner if you leave it outside a lot). Funny thing about Hondas; the engines will last forever, but the rest of the bike will decay rapidly with a lot of use. Example: Clutch mechanism is the same cheap junk they use on their dirt bikes. Engine oil, transmission oil, and clutch oil, are all the same (just like a dirt bike), and contained in the same enclosure. This is a very cheap way to do it, but all metric bikes are built like that. Imagine your dirty engine oil in the trans, and the dirty clutch particles circulating in your engine. . You get what you pay for is what I'm saying.

Such bullshit from Lynn. I own a 2009 Aero and none of what was said there is true, and considering that is a heavier bike I had it up to 90mph without a problem, and that speed was confirmed by 3 other speedos.

well years later we find that the shadow rs was short lived. I have yet to understand why when a company makes a product that can actually be better it gets discontinued. the problem with the RS ( my wife's bike) low top end it won't pull a hill without loosing power, by now the only bike in honda's line bike line that had even less power then the rs The honda Rebel was actually upgraded to a 500cc bike and looks like it should be in Terminator movie. The Term "screw job " fits here because that is what Honda did to this bike a little more juice was about all this bike needed.

I’m 6’2 and I feel I’m way to tall for this bike. My knees are above the gas tank and my crouch is being pushed into the tank while riding, makes for a really uncomfortable riding experience. I was hoping someone would have a solution to this problem but have found no answers.

It's crazy how they just gave up on that bike and are now only offering the Rebel line up. I'm not interested in any of those. They really dropped the ball.

drum brake and spokes? not retro, cheap

Not having ABS it's better to have a drum because a disk would lock up way too easily. Spokes are actually a very retro touch.
