What's impressive is that this was real, and not a CGI. They had to film this in two parts because the set wasn't big enough (look closely at the floor when the muffler starts rolling at about 0:56 and you will see the splice), but it is a functioning Rube Goldberg machine.

And it took about 100 takes to film. One can imagine the sense of relief when it all worked as planned -- though I'd think the jubilation would be caught on camera!. 'The Way Things Go' (1987) is a similar (and much longer) example, but there are noticeable edits. 'Making of the Honda Cog' is good. Some mistakes are sorta funny, but undoubtedly aggravating to those involved. 'Japanese Rube Goldberg Contest' is also quite captivating. Undoubtedly, many other examples out there.

I have a 2004 Honda Accord Euro. I'd bought it as my first car in 2021 and have it to this day. It is hard to believe it's a 20 y/o car. Rides and handles better than most new cars.

@@twbug I guess i'll just say this. It's mostly real camera work with some parts edited, like the transition into the separate rooms. The crew explained that the commercial would require a few separate rooms, for certain parts to be shot as the setup was very long. The wheels, that rolled upwards were weighted on one end so that they would roll about a third of a rotation. Those two things are commonly questioned about

@@premeditadeds6304 There are other things, like the glass, that you have to touch, and then it opens. The thing was standing still at the glass so why did it move again after the glass rolled down? It doesn't even look realistic to me, just to say, it's animated.

The GONG from the "muffler tube" resonates because it's actually a "RESONATOR". It balances the frequencies and exhaust from the engine to muffle the noise.

20 years later you’re learning that there are weights placed inside the wheels near the top. When the wheel is pushed, the imbalance in the weight of the wheel is enough to overcome gravity for just half a rotation up the slope.

Difficult to say. Sugar Hill Records used to own it, they got bought up by Rhino Records, for the Americas, and are now part of Warner Music Group. Internationally, SHR went to BMG. The song is Rappers Delight by Sugarhill Gang.
