Honda TRX500FA Starter motor repair.

Removal of starter motor from machine, strip down of motor, brush holder replacement, assembly and refitting to machine. Test.

Good video, mine is 13 years old and brushes were worn right down. Starting and stopping a lot on the farm. A new starter on Amazon was $55 CAN but is not a Honda part, keeping the original starter with new brushes is way better.

Glad you liked the video, but why disconnect the battery? There is no live feed to it unless the ignition and kill is switched on and the starter button it pressed.

Hi I put new brushes on mine but now the starter wont make contact with the gear , it just spins free ?

As long as the starter motor is seated fully in the engine and engaged with the gear then the only thing it can be is the "sprag clutch" or dive gear/s not working correctly, which probably will mean engine removal and strip down?

@@bbbikeshop8359 turns out the starter was 180 degrees offline so essentially making it work in reverse
