Man i love your videos. Someone who doesn’t pretend everything needs to be perfect.

First off I've been going through the videos on your channel and I've been loving them. Second off at 8:16 you can see one of the springs is in wrong (the one towards the top of the screen). I know I'm a year late to the party on this, but I think you ought to know anyways in case you ever want to put yourself through the trouble of removing and disassembling the starter all over again. I've had to do this sort of operation on lawnmower starters before so I know the pain.

I just did this with my 2001 Rubicon. Rebuilding a starter is not complicated but i dont suggest it for anyone who is not at least a little mechanically inclined. Now if they would only start selling a kit for the shift motor, i dread paying the $200 for one of those when its time, and I learned my lesson a long time ago about using the cheaper Chinese replacement stuff. Buy Honda brand parts and you'll only have to replace it once if you're capable of doing it correctly.

I wish more brands didn't sell the exact same Chinese parts as "official replacements".

what size is the needle bearing? mine has melted and the one in my kit not only doesn't fit well, but is a whole eighth of an inch smaller than the old one.

I know you won't read this, but an easier way to remove that bronze bushing is to fill it and the cavity with grease and hammer a punch or socket into the cavity. You use hydraulic force. I've pulled many pilot bushings this way!

You were wrong about me reading this, so how can I possibly trust anything you say??

In all seriousness, I’ve tried using that method to replace blind needle bearings in a supercharger. Never could get it to work but I’ve seen other people do it successfully.
