Hi graham yes the vfr 1200 mirrors are good they are the same ones that are on the vfr 800 that i had a 2015 one well made and feel firm yes you need good mirrors if you have been riding at pace to keep a eye out for blue lights ! my 750 vfrs the early one they are not so great but its almost 37 years old now the 94 fr 750 one i have fitted mirror extensions on and yes they are good in this day and age you need good mirrors with the amount of traffic thats on the road .

@@andyrawlings5369 Oh yes I'd forgotten they are on the later 800 also 👍. Can't remember what they were like on the 750s but I'll take your word for it, my fz 750 mirrors (similar era) were ok ish, but a bit ugly compared to your early Vfr. Cheers.

Unlike a lot of other bikes, the designers of the VFR1200F put a lot of thought into the mirrors. Aesthetically, being colour-matched, they integrate superbly with the upper fairing, are dual functional (safety led lighting and directional indication) and practical (swivel action for tight manoeuvring). On the road, whilst the mirrors were quite stable at speed, I did find that my elbows did take up a bit of the view of the road behind (more a problem with me than a fault with the bike!). Other than that, they are a faultless design, complimenting a faultless machine. Take care.

@@davidlutton4560 Yes they do look/feel like they've been well thought out. Elbow view might be better with or without heli bars fitted, I'd need a back to back comparison. Fyi, the best mirrors for view I've experienced recently is my mates 2018 tracer 900, helped I think by the distance, they seem (probably are)a lot closer physically to the rider. 👍

I was thinking this just today ‘too much elbow’. But, if you ride in a bit more sporty position (forward) everything makes sense and you get a fuller field of view. With the helibars you’re in a more touring position.
@Grahamvfr5 ай бұрын
@@danielmartin4880 Yes I think you're probably right... fortunately it's only with my thicker touring jacket (or waterproofs) that I notice 👍👍

Your right. Having crappy mirrors on a bike does take away the quality of the ride.

I have quite long arms and don't like the Heli bars on mine. been looking for a stock set of bars but they seem hard to find.
@Grahamvfr5 ай бұрын
@@barnysgaming Yes I've considered putting stock bars back on, (it came fitted with heli bars) but only because I prefer stock bikes. I have to accept though now, that at 67, the higher bars probably help the comfort 🤔

Yep, elbows always visible (with standard clip-ons). Pretty standard japanese bike problem IMHO, could be my _fault_ though for being 6'1" 🤷

@@garyt123 Oh yes being tall won't help, and indeed most bikes I've had, have struggled to produce a full view mirror. 👍

Hi Graham. Have you changed the indicator bulb in the mirror stalks yet? I'm not sure I could change the front or the rear indicator bulbs! Luckily I've not had to yet. My mirror vibrate a little at low engine RPM but no helibars so I get a pretty good view behind.

@@johnchambers4284 Cheers John, well whilst looking for something else I noticed in the pdf manual that the procedure involves one screw, but three plastic tabs that need unhooking in a sequence. don't want to do it until I have to,as I'm always nervous of plastic tabs !!.

I guess the hands touch the rear mirrors cause you have bar risers, mine doesn't
