About 15 years ago a girl I knew from school had a VFR400 in castrol race colours. She was moving to Australia and offered to sell it to me. In hindsight I wished I had bought it off her. Would be worth a few quid now.

Yes, it's safe as long as you keep it under the red line.

Why wouldn’t it be? Anytime you let off throttle you are initiating engine braking. So you’re thinking above a certain rpm you can’t let off throttle by itself? What a really crappy bike and motor, let alone “race bike” it must be if you need worry about letting off throttle, especially while on a race track. ANY motorcycle engine that can’t handle engine braking under its own designations really should never be sold.

Pardon my language. i mean, gearing down over 10,000 rpm. It might hit 13-14K rpm instantly at the lower gear. But yeah maybe as long as it doesn't hit the redline it's considered safe as stated by @etiennejean8150 reply

@@focalpolyglass7337 I agree with you there. After rewatching the video I see what you are talking about now. This guy is purposely downshifting as a way of substituting braking.🙄 I think this is very dumb. First of all it was a terrible launch, then at the end of a straight line race, he downshifts the bike needlessly at very high rpm. Seriously, for what?? Very stupid and unnecessarily hard on the motor. All he needed was to let off the throttle.

Vfr 400 - V 4 engine

CBR400 is inline 4 and the VFR400 is 90 degree V4. The V4 has a better torque curve.

@@davidyoung9561 according to basic techspec theyr the same 40 nm 10000 rpm 60 hp 12500-13000 rpm 🤷🏻‍♂️ diffrences can be due to lack of fairing in cbr heavier rider more fuel in tank error on ups point and upsitself position hees not fullly hide behinde this fsiring which it have asf tire pressure many stufff never seeen stock vs stock vfr 400 vs cbr 400 dyno whole graph there be probabaly no significsnt diffrences 👌🏻
