Nice video, sounds great. I have a 1999 VFR800 with a Delkevic 350mm and can't get enough of the music it plays while I ride. A quick tip I learned a few years ago - to eliminate the loud clunk when shifting into first gear at startup, pull the clutch lever in for about 15-20 seconds, then shift into first. No clunk. This works on any wet clutch bike. Thanks for the vid!

Hello Peter,I understand what you mean. I bought the new honda rebel this year and thought about to trade in the vfr for a while but i am glad I kept the vfr.
@GeoffreyGodshall4 жыл бұрын
I bought an early one back in '94. Another dealer had me financed and everything for a used '93. The Honda guys dealer beat the offer. They had two of them plus an RC45 (for 27K). Nothing was selling so they let mine go cheap. Just to get it out in public.Charleston, SC. Brings back so many memories. I ended up trading it in for a '98 Superhawk. An equally great bike. Miss them both. Was convinced to get an RC-51 in 2000. Mistake. Sold it soon after for a loss. Reg Pridmore even adjusted my VFR throttle cable for me at Road America in WI back in '97. The student bikes were all '95 VFR's. So cool. Would have taken the CLASS if it weren't such a long commute. Good memories.

I found that my fireblade started best by just raising the tick over screw about a third of turn, without choke unless very cold then no more than a quarter. Then return screw to original position. It did not like the throttle twisted at all during start up.

Something's definitely not right, the bike shouldn't take that long to start. With constant use of the starter motor, it's going to wear out a lot quicker.
@karltonrod38555 жыл бұрын
Does not sound as even as it should. The low rev torque is always fine so you will not feel something's wrong - but consider synchronizing the carbs, you might get that tiny bit closer to perfection. In the spirit of the people who constructed this engine.

Thanks for your comment. Synchronizing the carbs is planned for this year.

Why did it take so long to start? Is there a choke that you need to utilize?

Yes I had one of these. It's a Honda. They're cold-natured on Startup and require choking until the RPMs rise a bit.

It was first registered in the Netherlands in 1993, brought to Estonia in 2005 and now im the third owner with 52k on the clock and never ridden it and have to wait until spring, very difficult lol :) Do you remeber what did it cost for you in 1994 as I understand you bought it new? Cheers.

Why does it start up so difficult? Do you even use the choke? Maybe you should do a service? Something is not good because My RC46 starts right away in any kind of temperature.
@JacobAnnema6 жыл бұрын
You are right about service, but this was actually the first start after the winter, and i was using the shoke. This RC36 is equipped with carberateurs and generally starts more difficult than with fuel injection. Anyway service is needed for this year.
@omfgwtfbbq906 жыл бұрын
Jacob Annema My father in law has an old CBR600 from like year 1992 or something and it has carbs as well. He now and then starts it up in winter. It starts up like with electronic fuel injection. I don't think it's because you have carbs, it's probably something else... Good luck with finding the problem! Can't wait for the season to start. Btw mine started right away from like 6 months of not touching it after winter. Any VFR should start like clockwork. Unless there is something very wrong...
@JacobAnnema6 жыл бұрын
This model came on the market in 1994, and then bought it new. I can remember that immediately after purchase the engine sometimes did not go well. I also remember that the dealer then carried out a modification to the carbs. Since then the engine has always run smoothly, but starting after the winter was always a problem. But now and then starting up in winter is maybe a good idea. I also can't wait for the season to start.

@SatansSpatula3 жыл бұрын
That's the stock rear seat cover that they all came with from the factory. Most of them have been lost due to either blowing off on the highway or getting lost in garages.
@alexmorgan34355 жыл бұрын
Your bike doesn't want to start does it! It needs sorting out. Should start first time or definitely second go. You probably keep it in a garage over winter as well. No excuse. Mine starts 1st time on the button every time even first start in the spring and mine is garaged. Also totally irresponsible riding with no motorcycle protective clothing whatsoever. You are riding along residential streets you cannot predict what might happen even if it is or indeed not your fault and you come off. A car door might suddenly open or some one pull out into your path. Good luck with your body. Leathers and PPE are a necessity for a reason as they are good and might just save your life.
@JacobAnnema5 жыл бұрын
my bike is in the garage every year from October to April. Every year after the winter, the engine has started difficult for 24 years. But the rest of the season that I use the motorcycle, he starts right away
