Better alternative to connecting the stator wires. Tape the new thicker stator wires to the trimmed existing yellow stator wires and pull them out through the stator side. Here you can strip the yellow wires near where they exit the stator and solder (not crimp) them to the new wires so practically all your stator line will be the new thicker wire. Easier to do, stronger connection and gives you the thicker gauge wire for the stator current.

You are bloody lucky you checked it when you did. As you said the catastrophic failure was probably waiting at your next start up of 6th Gen VFR.

Yes, agree. Especially 1st revision of the 6th generation. These are the ones with the black brake/clutch reservoirs. The 2nd revision have a better rectifier and loom, and silver reservoirs. No harm in doing the change on the 2nd revision.

Mine burnt out the wiring and the connector block at 50k on a 2000 model. New mosfet RR and ok thereafter. 👍🏻

F*cking hell Honda, why couldn’t they get this right after so many years of the VFR?

The R/R on many Hondas like the f4i can cause overheating and rough running issues. I just changed them out for 2005 gsxr600 mosfet units every time.

For any 5TH gen guys, you only need 1ft for the battery cables.

The new wires are a MUCH bigger guage than OEM but transfer to existing smaller guage. Something fishy there. So the new wires will cope with a much higher wattage but then the existing smaller wires won't.

Thanks for the video! one question, do I need a mosfet for a 4th gen?
@HeroRRvlogs

Yes. I would get one for any gen vfr prior to the 7th. Just do some research because maybe they suggest a different model for your bike vs the 6th gen.

VFR -ness is a pointless waste of money mod, not required on a 5th or 6th Gen, who ever came up with it is an idiot ... Source a Mosfet R&R & loom connectors, inline fuse holder, 4 meters of yellow 12gauge wire, 2 metres of 10 gauge red & black wire, access to a solder iron & shrink wrap & 2 m6 ring crimp terminals for battery connection, make your own loom all the way back to the stator, bin all the OEM yellow wiring, it's not fit for purpose, solid connection from stator to R&R is vital, you're trying to future proof the bike, so why bodge it by crimping onto weak/heat damaged OEM stator wiring, makes no sense to do that, OEM Yellow stator wire is inadequate & overheats, 10gauge red & black back to battery with inline 30A fuse on positive wire, clean all ground connections, add a ground wire from battery to chassis, job done ... u guys in the US really get ripped off for R&R's ... Can easily buy all the parts needed for less than £100 in the UK ... u need to source your own parts, that website is having your pants down mate.
