I live in N.H. And have owned many snowblowers. I'm in my 60s and been around a while. I have a 650ft driveway that I plow, but it tends to get narrow over time from plowing. I used the snowblower to blow it wider when needed. I had an ariens pro 1336 with all the bells and whistles. I got tired of fighting with the front end riding up on bankings and hills. So I bought the honda hs1332 like in this video and there's no comparison to anything else out there. When it comes to quality and reliability and don't forget performance honda ownes it.

That should be the goal which is to get the job done. As long as its reliable thats enough for me. There are those who want to have the talk of the town sort of say.
@santareviews3 жыл бұрын
@@georgebenevides Sure, maybe they want to be the talk of the town, but from an engineering standpoint the machine is excellent. The Honda does things that cheaper blowers do not. It is extremely precise in throwing snow, for example. So if you have very tight spaces, by which I mean your neighbor is right next door and you want to make sure you don’t throw ANY snow on their side, the precise level of control the Honda gives you is superb, far better than an Ariens. It’s got many little features like this that less expensive models don’t have. It is so well made that if you buy one and take care of it, you will never need another blower because it will outlive you. Honda does a terrible job explaining and marketing all these features, so their blowers just come off as being overpriced. But my point is; if you don’t need these features, or don’t care about them, then the Honda is NOT a good choice.
@georgebenevides3 жыл бұрын
@@santareviews Absolutely. If your restricted to where you can throw the snow then sure the top of the line snowblower would be the correct choice. What kills snow blowers is salt corrosion, old gas, and lack of maintenance. Both brands are good machines and can last many decades if well maintained. If a lot of salt and calcium chloride used in your area you will have more bad bearings and rust to fight. In my area, Syracuse,NY, Ariens are plentiful and dealers have parts locally. Never see a Honda snow blower here so no parts locally. I have a Honda walk behind mower that is a fine machine. I've got a Honda HS624 with the hydrostatic trans/tracks, a 2 year old briggs 31" box store blower with all the bells/whistles, and a Honda HS621 single stage. The tracked honda is great in heavy snow but its a bear to turn, and you really can't move it around the garage or anywhere else if the engine's off. I like the power chute, 12v battery electric start, and the hydrostatic trans for dialing-in speed and easy direction changes. I usually end up doing a few neighbours' driveways and between me and another guy, we usually clear the entire cul-de-sac. But the Briggs is my go-to (because it's got wheels and not tracks) if the snow is more than 6" because it turns easy with the power steer, it starts easy, and it goes quickly. Power chute, and heated grips But it's cheaply made, and it has the disposable transmission. Until it dies, I like the 31" of clearing power and speed to knock off a few driveways and most of the street before work. The Honda single stage is super-fast and easy for 6" and under on a regular sized driveway. You just rocket up and down the with the paddles pulling you along. They all start on the first pull, but I think for a normal sized driveway with average snowfalls, the ideal would be a 24" Honda dual stage with wheels not tracks. Just for quality. Ariens is using Chinese engines now on a lot of their blowers and I don't trust them yet. The rest of the Ariens machine at the higher end have great quality too. I'd be happy with an Ariens 24" too. Either way, I'd still keep the Honda single-stage for the lighter stuff and a decent leaf blower for 1/2 inch dustings.

@@austinreish94 in my experience, Honda throws snow further, does not bog down at hard packed snow (end of driveway), heavier all around machine. However, the Ariens is easier to maneuver, seems faster speed when in use, light weight and easy to move around. I see pros in both

As I've already said on your other video you should not be comparing a tracks machine versus a wheeled machine and if you both bought these brand new right now the Honda is around $3,300 and the Ariens is around $1,300. And there's a couple reasons why the Honda throws it further. FIRST OFF THE HONDA IS AROUND 12 HORSEPOWER, THE ARIENS IS ONLY AROUND 8 OR 9. THE OTHER REASON IS THAT ARIENS HAS BIGGER CUPS ON THEIR IMPELLERS THAT THROWS MORE SNOW!! MORE SNOW MEANS IT'S NOT GOING TO THROW AS FAR!! AND THEY USUALLY HAVE BIGGER OPENINGS ON THE INSIDE AND THROUGH THE SHOOT HOLE. You can clearly see in both of your videos comparing these two The Ariens throws more snow in the air. CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO THIS IS THE SAME IDENTICAL HONDA MODEL BUT IT'S THE 970 TRAX VERSION BUT IT'S AROUND THE SAME HORSEPOWER AS THE ARIENS ST 28 OR THE DELUXE. THE ARIENS IS 254 CC THE HONDA 970 IS 270 CC.. ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWrRqYWlp9p8nJY ) finally a fair power test. THE ARIENS WON!! And it was beating the tracks Honda style which should not even be compared to a wheel machine. IMAGINE IF YOU COMPARED THE ARIENS TRACKS VERSION OR THE TORO TRACKS VERSION WITH THE SAME HORSEPOWER AS THE 1332!! THEY WOULD BOTH WIN JUST LIKE YOU SEE IN THIS VIDEO IF THEY HAD THE SAME HORSEPOWER!! A wheel machine usually has better maneuverability, it's lighter, and it goes faster most commercial contractors will take a wheeled unit over a tracks unit any day of the week to get the jobs done quicker. A tracks unit is designed to put the weight on the front of the machine with that thing that you're kicking in the back of it. So it probably will work a little bit better for heavier snow cuz it will stay down. JUST LIKE ALL TRACK SNOW BLOWERS And I don't care if you got it used and cheap.. That's not what most people are facing they have to buy these machines brand new.. in the Honda is grossly overpriced... The whole point is If you're looking to buy a brand new snowblower or a track version. ARIENS and Toro WILL DO THE SAME THING FOR A LOT CHEAPER MAYBE EVEN BETTER!! AND BONUS THEIR PARTS WILL BE CHEAPER, EASY TO FIX, EASIER TO FIND AND BE AVAILABLE FOREVER!! ;) Like I said before it's comparing apples to oranges.

It's simple. Want a great snow blower? Buy the upper end Ariens models (not box store junk) Want to blow snow across your yard and over the neighbor's house? Buy the Honda.

@Tom-yj6mt3 жыл бұрын
I doubt that. Ariens is well known. My Craftsman 5hp does more than it was intended to do. It's well over 10 years old. The only thing it needs now is a drive cable. Usually starts on the 2nd pull. It might not be a powerhouse but does pretty good for what it is. Not saying Honda is bad but the Ariens is far better than you give it credit for.
@l337pwnage3 жыл бұрын
The only thing that will kill either is rust, but both could last for decades. I do have to admit, older Ariens have better quality than the newer ones. I doubt Honda suffered that same decline in quality. Honda's real big advantage, that no one can deny, tho, is they make their own engine whereas Ariens has to contract them out and is stuck with whatever engine they can get.

Ariens is optimized to move snow rapidly Honda is optimized to throw snow far. For typical suburban driveway throwing snow 60+ feet is just bragging rights, so Ariens wins. Actually for this driveway both snowblowers are way overkill could use a low end 24" box store 2 stage for 1/4 the price and the job would take 15 minutes instead of 10...
