Having done now 5+ trip in Vietnam riding different bikes, the Winner X is the right one for me. Mainly because of your first point, it's smaller, closer to the ground, easier to manage on small single trail, next to a cliff type of road in North Vietnam. The DT217 towards the bamboo raft for example between Meo Vac and Bao Lac, I'd much rather use this than a big XR150. I can easily use both feet if I'm uncomfortable etc. But that's maybe just me. Anyhoo, amazing bike and I'll be using it again in a few weeks.

There must be a vietnamese mechanic that could put a winner engine into an XR frame! This is the bike we all want!
@enerim197 ай бұрын
I have been thinking of that engine swap to XR150L as well, or maybe also to CRF 150L.

And the Winner engine is fuel injected so there is no choke to worry about. The Winner also has disc rear brakes vs XR 150 drums

How about the range on one tank? That's a huge plus point of the XR, good for ~350 - 400km. Since it's more difficult to access the gas tank on a loaded Winner, I would hope the range is similar?
@Tigitmotorbikes7 ай бұрын
XR has a much bigger gas tank and range. But you can argue having no gas gauge on the XR is annoying. Winner you need to fill up in the morning and at lunch time on a days drive. The XR only once a day.
@enerim198 ай бұрын
i think you can't compare the XR to the Winner. they're on different category.
@Tigitmotorbikes7 ай бұрын
For normal use they are different categories yes. But we are motorbike rental shop in Vietnam, and these two motorbikes are often compared side by side.

It's a bit like the Yamaha Exciter. Is the Winner as quick off the mark?
@Tigitmotorbikes8 ай бұрын
Certainly, the older Winner was much quicker than the Exciter. The new Winner X is a bit heavier now. I think Winner VS Exciter is an interesting race. However, I think with a good rider, the Winner will win. The engine is better than Exciter. With normal riders, the bikes are probably very close to being the same speed.

How does it compare to the Honda Blade?

You can't compare. They are different in every way. Blade is a 110cc Semi-Automatic Winner is a 150cc Manual motorbike

@@DominateYourGoal they're slow, high saddle, no fuel gauge, air cooled, bad fuel economy, have to be serviced only by Tigit. I rented one and I remember it feeling really hot on my lower legs. The only reason to get one is if you're actually off roading, for which I'd rent. Idk why they're recommended as the standard expat motorbike here.
